Steven Yeun Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Will Star In New Movie ‘Mayhem’

Steven Yeun, known for playing Glenn on The Walking Dead, has been signed to star in the new action movie Mayhem. This big news will surely have The Walking Dead fans debating about the future of Yeun in the hit AMC series.

Mayhem will be directed by Joe Lynch and he’ll be working with production company Circle of Confusion. This is the same production company that produces The Walking Dead, which Steven Yeun is currently seen on. Yeun has played Glenn for all six seasons of The Walking Dead and it was his first major role. Although Steven had appeared in smaller roles before The Walking Dead and since the series started, he has not had the opportunity to take on such a big role before.

Variety says that the movie Mayhem “is being financed by Avva Pictures, with Avva principal Mehrdad Elie also producing; Avva president of production Parisa Caviani is exec producing.”

According to Variety, the movie is about “the story of a virus that infects a corporate law office on the day attorney Derek Saunders (Yeun) is framed by a co-worker and wrongfully fired. The infection is capable of making people act out their wildest impulses. Trapped in the quarantined building, our hero is forced to savagely fight tooth and nail for not only his job but his life.”

It sounds like Steven Yeun will be in familiar territory. While Mayhem may not be specifically futuristic, it does have that sci-fi edge that many fans of The Walking Dead love, so it is completely possible that many of the fans will watch Mayhem because of Steven Yeun.

But Mayhem is more than just sci-fi. The Hollywood Reporter got the dirt from the director himself.

“It’s not every day you get to throw action, sci-fi, horror, drama and even satire in the genre blender and hit puree, but Matias’ script, combined with a gung-ho cast and crew — especially Steven and Samara — will make for a deliciously dangerous and exciting cinematic smoothie… with a hell of a kick.”

Steven Yeun will co-star with actress Samara Weaving, who is from Australia. She was recently seen in the horror flick The Babysitter. She started with Australian soap operas but has also been seen in Ash vs Evil Dead and has a movie called Monster Trucks that will be released in 2017.

This news will give The Walking Dead fans something to talk about as the big question this season has been, who will Negan kill? Comics Spoiler Alert: Since Glenn is the one that gets killed in the comics, there are many who believe that this will be the last season of The Walking Dead for Steven Yeun. Yet others believe that since his character was more or less brought back to life after the almost death scene from earlier in the season, it can’t possibly be him that dies. Now, fans will be questioning whether or not they will be seeing more of Steven Yeun in season 7 of The Walking Dead.

Of course, other actors on The Walking Dead have been in movies while still working on the series. Norman Reedus has been in three movies since he started playing Daryl on The Walking Dead, so it is completely possible that Steven Yeun may just be taking the next step in his acting career. Steven Yeun has not had such a big role before, so starring in a movie like Mayhem is definitely a career builder for him.

Steven Yeun has a great opportunity to build his career with his new role in the movie Mayhem, and it will be great to see him expand his skills as an actor.
