Danny DeVito ‘Feels The Bern’ In St. Louis, Standing On A Crate To Open For Bernie Sanders [Video]
Veteran Hollywood actor Danny DeVito officially endorsed and opened for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders in St. Louis, Missouri, earlier this week.
The diminutive, five-foot tall Danny DeVito had to stand on top of a wooden crate to be able to reach the microphone when he proudly opened for Sanders, announcing to Bernie’s many surrounding supporters that he was feeling “the Bern.”

As reported by CBS, Devito opened by saying, “I love you guys. I love you because you’re here for Bernie.”
“And I’m here because you’re here, and because I feel…”
To which the assembled crowd of Sanders supporters responded loudly, “the Bern!”
Danny DeVito, 71, well known for his roles in films such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Matilda, went on to describe Sanders as “a man who speaks the truth, a man who’s got the knowledge, a man who’s been there for us since the beginning of his career.”

DeVito went on to say he was very excited to introduce to them the next president of the United States, comparing Sanders to the Star Wars character, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
“We need you, Obi-Wan, Bernie Sanders!”
Watch DeVito speak as he introduces Bernie Sanders to the audience of supporters and then warmly hugs the presidential candidate before Sanders began to stump.
As reported by Breitbart, DeVito appeared on MSNBC earlier on Sunday and gave his opinion of the Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, comparing his candidacy to the Republican Party’s “crazy brother-in-law” taking a great big car on a “joy ride.”
“I think, you know, the human race, we are who we are. And you know, there are people who are going to be conflicted with certain things. And in terms of the Republican party, I mean, I feel like unfortunately, they have — it’s almost like they had a really nice big car and they loaned it to the crazy brother-in-law who has taken it for a joy ride, and that’s where Donald is. He’s got a lot of people who are riled up, he’s dividing people up.”
Of course, it is not unusual for the It’s Always Sunny star to make controversial remarks. Back in January this year, Danny DeVito spoke up to the Wrap about the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, saying, “We live in a country … we love America, but it’s a racist country, built on the boards of genocide and, you know, … it’s unfortunate that we are xenophobic.”
DeVito then went on to criticize the Oscars for nominating only white actors for a second consecutive year, adding that it was unfortunate that women in Hollywood were hired for 30 percent less money than men.
In the meanwhile, and as reported recently, Danny DeVito and Robert De Niro, 72, are busy working together on their latest film, The Comedian, and were seen filming in New York City, smiling all the while, huddled up against the cold weather in Queens.

Reportedly, the Batman Returns star is a relatively new addition to the film’s line-up who plays the role of a chef in the new film and was seen wearing a pair of checked chef’s trousers along with a white apron and flannel shirt. According to the Daily Mail, both actors appeared to be having a lot of fun making the movie.
