‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Ashley Benson On Hanna’s Fate
Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season finale of Pretty Little Liars.
The Pretty Little Liars season 6 finale aired tonight and it kept fans perched on the edges of their seats with twists around every turn. While much was revealed in this Pretty Little Liars episode, it was what wasn’t revealed that left PLL fans in shock and anxious for season 7. What made this year’s season finale so sensational is knowing that, as season 7 may be the final installment of Pretty Little Liars, anything can happen. From here on out, series showrunner Marlene King has declared no one is safe — not even Hanna Marin.
Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson dishes the dirt on Hanna Marin
Skipping way to the last moments of “Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars,” Hanna, played by Ashley Benson, is seen being dragged away. Hanna looks more than just merely unconscious; she’s a lifeless, bloody mess. Making the situation that much more stressful for Pretty Little Liars fans, as well as for the rest of the women, the new villain sends a text message, thanking the liars for Hanna and sending them on their way.
Fortunately, Ashley Benson is on hand to give PLL fans her special insight into Hanna’s fate. Is she dead or alive?
“Let’s hope that Hanna’s okay!” Benson said of her Pretty Little Liars character. “That’s all I can say. Let’s hope that she’s alive and doing well. It’s questionable at this point.”
It’s almost a given at this point that Pretty Little Liars will be ending with its seventh season. Marlene King has alluded to it and some of the actresses have expressed feelings that they’re finally ready to move on and pursue other projects. Given that the series is most likely coming to a close, it seems possible that some characters may not make it all the way to Pretty Little Liars‘ season 7 finale.
“You know, it’s not out of the question,” Benson teased with a coy smile. “Marlene has hinted to that too, just to get the fans curious. I mean, it really could be Hanna, you never know. You may not see me next season guys.”
Afterwards, Ashley laughed and confessed that she was only joking. Benson admits that Hanna will be seen in the next Pretty Little Liars season, though she hints that her character may not be in the best of shape.
What else happened in the Pretty Little Liars Season 6 finale?
As promised by Ms. King, the PLL season finale unmasked the new villain, whom the showrunner has been calling Uber A. This time around, viewers learned the villain is the twin sister of Jessica DiLaurentis, Mary Drake (Andrea Parker). Mary is also Charlotte’s mother, proving the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
It was also revealed that Mary and Alison’s husband, Dr. Elliot Rollins (Huw Collins), were working together to drive Alison (Sasha Pieterse) to commit herself. The two of them took turns haunting Ali, trying to convince her that she was seeing the ghosts of her mother and of Detective Wilden.
After Alison had committed herself, It was revealed Mary and Elliot had been after the Carissimi Group, which Ali signed over to Elliot.
“We’ve finally taken back what was supposed to be mine,” Mary said. “And that’s what our Charlotte would have wanted.”
This all leaves Pretty Little Liars with one villain still on the loose, the person responsible for dragging Hanna away and the one to sign her (or his) texts “AD.” Marlene has said season 7 will conclude with the unmasking of Uber A.
Pretty Little Liars is expected to debut season 7 this summer.
