Tia Mowry Gets Her Own Scripted Series
Well, that was fast! Nearly two months after it was announced that Sister, Sister actress Tia Mowry was being let go from BET’s hit show The Game, Nickelodeon scooped Mowry up and decided to take it further and give her, her own scripted series. The scripted series, titled Instant Mom, is being described as a comedy sitcom, which will air on Nickelodeon’s newly structured Nick at Nite, to target adult viewership.
Instant Mom is being written by Warren Bell and Jessica Butler, and the whole show’s premise is said to be based on the real lives of Bell and Butler. The show is about a 25 year-old partier (Mowry), who trades her drinking lifestyle for carpools and soccer mom gatherings when she marries an older man with children.
The plan for Instant Mom is to cast an all-African American family, for those who were wondering if the married couple are of a different race, the answer is no.
Mowry first got her start alongside her sister as a teen star of the hit WB show Sister, Sister, where she played a loosely based version of herself, with her twin sister Tamara. With guest stints here and there, Tia signed onto The Game, which was originally on UPN, and then on CW before it was canceled and inevitably picked up by BET. In addition, Tia has her own hit reality show with her sister Tamera on the Style Network, and landed a lead role in an upcoming ABC Family movie entitled Mistletones.
In addition the busy actress is also an author, and a new mother.
