Blake Shelton Hosts The Kids’ Choice Awards Tonight: Will Gwen Stefani And Her Sons Be There?
Blake Shelton is hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards tonight on Nickelodeon, and many of the country star’s fans might be wondering whether Gwen Stefani will be joining him at the show. After all, Blake’s girlfriend is the mother of three young sons, and two of them, 9-year-old Kingston and 7-year-old Zuma, would probably have a blast at the KCAs (2-year-old Apollo is a bit too young to enjoy the show).
According to People, Blake Shelton will be joined by quite a few famous faces when he first takes the stage during the Kids’ Choice Awards—he’ll open the show with Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, and Chewbacca. Blake has no kids of his own to bring to the KCAs, so he probably would have loved for Gwen Stefani and her boys to attend the event with him. But unfortunately for Kingston and Zuma, they probably won’t be in the audience when Blake Shelton gets slimed.
As reported by the Gwen & Blake Instagram page, last night Gwen used her Snapchat to let her fans know that she was heading to Japan. According to Beacon Street Online, Gwen Stefani is scheduled to perform a Mastercard Priceless Performance concert in Tokyo on March 16. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the stylish singer/designer will be in the city during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo, so perhaps she also plans on attending a few runway shows.
Shefani fans will likely be saddened by the news that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are going to be spending so many days apart, and it’s also a big bummer that Gwen won’t be able to make a surprise appearance Kids’ Choice Awards with Blake. However, Blake Shelton did find a way to show a little love for his girlfriend in a video that he shot for The Forum, which is the Inglewood, California, venue where the KCAs are being held. In the video below, Blake Shelton gets excited when he finds Gwen’s autograph on The Forum’s “Canvas Wall.” He doesn’t seem as impressed that Adam Levine’s band also has a spot on the wall of fame.
Blake Shelton might seem like an odd choice to host the Kids’ Choice Awards since he doesn’t star on a show aimed at children or sing the type of music that most young ‘uns enjoy, but he’s likely hoping to use his country charm to convince the kiddies to check out his upcoming animated flick, The Angry Birds Movie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Blake Shelton voices a green pig named Earl in the movie based on the popular mobile game. Angry Birds hits theaters on May 20, but kids won’t have to wait until then to see Blake Shelton go green—he’s definitely going to get covered with green slime during the Kids’ Choice Awards.

Blake Shelton has a chance to go home with more than two shoes full of green goop—he’s actually a KCA nominee in the Favorite Male Singer category, so he could score one of those coveted orange blimps.
Even though Kingston and Zuma likely won’t be attending the Kids’ Choice Awards in person, perhaps they’re still planning on watching Blake Shelton host the Nickelodeon show. According to People, a source close to Gwen and Blake says that Blake Shelton and the boys have become fast friends. The boys reportedly “adore” Blake, and he has a blast hanging out with them.
“Blake loves kids and has been having a lot of fun when he spends time with Gwen’s kids,” the insider revealed.
Another source told Hollywood Life that Gwen Stefani’s ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, isn’t as big of a fan of Blake Shelton. It’s reportedly “killing” Gavin that his sons have already formed such a strong bond with Blake, so hopefully the jealous dad doesn’t ban his boys from watching the KCAs tonight.
“He hates that they’re spending so much time with him. He doesn’t have any say in it…and it’s killing him.”
Gwen Stefani wanted to spend some quality time with her boys before jetting off to Tokyo, so she took them to Disneyland on Thursday. According to the Daily Mail, she and Kingston got to test out Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters, a new Cars-themed ride at Disney’s California Adventure Park.
Gwen looks like she’s having fun with her sons in photos from their fun day out, but she was actually feeling under-the-weather. During her Disneyland trip, she took to Snapchat to inform her that she was suffering from an unspecified sickness that left her holed up at the hotel while her kids enjoyed visiting other Disneyland attractions. Hopefully the “Misery” singer wasn’t too miserable during her flight to Japan.
During the Kids’ Choice Awards, will Blake Shelton give a sweet shout-out to Gwen Stefani in hopes of helping her get well soon? You can find out when the awards show airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
