Blake Shelton’s upcoming album is expected to address some emotional issues for the country singer. From his divorce with Miranda Lambert to his heated love affair with Gwen Stefani , Shelton is opening up like never before. With that in mind, is his newest song, “Came Here to Forget,” about his romance with Stefani?
In an interview with Life & Style magazine, Shelton admitted that his newest tune is a candid glimpse into his personal life. Although the song is based on an interaction between two lovers at a bar, fans can’t help but wonder if Stefani is the inspiration behind the lyrics.
“I’ve had a lot of music over the years, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life,” Shelton explained in the interview. “That’s why I’m so excited about this particular song.”
In addition to Stefani’s clear influence on the album, Shelton also explained how everything he’s gone through in recent months is on the record. This includes his public divorce with Lambert after four years of marriage.
“If you have followed my career even a little bit in my life, you know what has happened with me in the last, gosh, eight or nine months,” he shared. “It is all on the record…I can put my life experience, whether it’s a divorce or my new girlfriend, whatever those experiences are, whatever things that are happening in my life, I have an outlet for them…I have music. I can write songs, I can sing about it.”
Blake Shelton’s upcoming album isn’t the only way the crooner has vented his feelings. According to People , Shelton has a history of going on social media and taking a stab at fans who post their negative comments about his life. That being said, Shelton admitted that he’s had to take a step back from the Twitter bashing in recent months.
“At first it was fun for me to get on there… to get down there and be like ‘oh, really,’ and just fire back at em,” he stated. “Next thing I know, that became a popular thing for people to look at on my Twitter page, just me firing back at the booger-eaters out there. After a while… I just decided, man, I can’t get worked up over this stuff anymore.”
Understandably, Stefani’s influence on his life is another reason why Shelton has avoided the negative press. After all, ever since the two started dating, Shelton has had more than one reason to take a positive outlook on how his life has progressed in the last five months.
In fact, along with Shelton’s newest album, Rolling Stone is reporting that the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is getting ready to honor Shelton with his very own exhibit in Nashville. The title of the exhibit is Blake Shelton: Based on a True Story , and will premiere on May 27.
The exhibit will feature some special artifacts related to Shelton’s country music career. This includes some of the clothes he has sported on The Voice as well as the shirt from “Some Beach.” Furthermore, Shelton has loaned some of his instruments to the exhibit, as well as a few manuscripts and photographs that walk visitors through his life story.
In speaking about the new exhibit, Shelton expressed his excitement for being honored by the museum.
“To have my own exhibit is more than a dream come true, because I never dreamed it could happen!” he stated. “It’s crazy, is what it is. I couldn’t be more excited or more honored than to be a part of the museum.”
