Law & Order: SVU will not return to NBC until the end of March 2016. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t information on future episodes. The Inquisitr previously reported the press release details on the next episode, titled “ Unholiest Alliance .” Even though episode 18 has not aired yet, there is already another press release for the following episode. Law & Order: SVU season 17, episode 19 is titled “Sheltered Outcasts.” It turns out viewers will see Detective Sonny Carisi going undercover as a homeless man in “Sheltered Outcast.” The press release also reveals that Mariska Hargitay will direct Law & Order: SVU season 17, episode 19.
Currently, Law & Order: SVU is on hiatus. The last episode had fans expressing intense emotions, including sadness, concern, confusion, and even anger. In “Manhattan Transfer,” Mariska Hargitay’s character, Olivia Benson, was transferred out of the Special Victims Unit . Many episodes of television shows will end with a cliffhanger, but to do it just prior to a three-week break was cruel.
In response to Law & Order: SVU fans, it was finally revealed that Olivia Benson is not leaving the NBC police drama. Entertainment Weekly reported that Mariska Hargitay is still part of the show. However, Benson won’t have an easy time getting her job back. That means fans might not see much of Benson for a while. While she won’t be in front of the camera full-time, Hargitay will instead sit behind it. According to Spoilers Guide , the woman who portrays Olivia Benson is directing Law & Order: SVU season 17, episode 19.

Although fans are relieved that Mariska Hargitay is still part of the Law & Order: SVU cast, having her direct another episode is exciting. In the three episodes she has previously directed, Hargitay has done an excellent job. In the past, the actress directed “Criminal Stories” in season 15, the Law & Order: SVU episode titled “Padre Sandunguero,” which aired last year, and “A Misunderstanding,” which viewers watched on January 20, 2016. What fans really hope for is that Olivia Benson will return to the Special Victims Unit by the time “Sheltered Outcasts” airs. Perhaps viewers will get lucky and Benson will return to SVU sooner rather than later.
