Rupert Sanders’ Dad On KStew Affair: “What’s The Big Deal?”

Kristen Stewart’s affair with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders may have rocked Hollywood and Twi-hards the world over, but one man doesn’t seem all that bothered by the scandal: Rupert Sanders’ own father.

Rupert Sanders’ father doesn’t really see what all the fuss is about, despite the fact that his son possibly ruined his 10-year marriage to former model Liberty Ross, and Kristen Stewart’s actions caused potentially irreparable damage to her relationship with secret boyfriend Robert Pattinson, reports NY Daily.

“From what I gather nothing really happened and it is all a lot of fuss about nothing. I should imagine it was something very brief,” Michael Sanders said in an interview with People. “She is a very pretty girl and when you work that closely with someone for so long, sometimes things happen.”

Sanders also went out of his way to defend his son’s character from the wild accusations of the press. Though media outlets paint him as a philanderer, Michael Sanders maintains, “He is very honorable, hardworking and [a] dedicated father and filmmaker.”

Perhaps much of the nonchalance stems from Sanders’ belief that his son’s marriage to Liberty Ross will survive the scandal. “Of course their relationship will survive this. This is nothing – they will definitely survive all of this. It is all a lot of fuss about nothing.”

Some sources suggest that Sanders’ dalliance with Stewart was far from a full-blown affair, barely overreaching a bit of dangerous flirtation. “She wasn’t having an affair with Rupert. It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn’t have happened,” the source says. “She never meant to hurt anyone. She’s a good person who just made a bad choice.”

Regardless, Stewart issued a very emotional public apology Wednesday, saying, “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry,” referring to (and confirming her relationship with) Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.
