Dane Cook Makes Aurora Shooting Joke [Video]
Was the shooting in Aurora, Colorado, a tragic event or fodder for a comedy routine. According to Dane Cook, it was a little bit of both.
Cook performed at the Laugh Factory this week and decided to throw in a joke or two about the dozens of people who were shot during the Dark Knight Rises premiere in Colorado.
“So I heard that the guy came into the theater about 25 minutes into the movie… And I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie, but the movie is pretty much a piece of crap. Yea, spoiler alert…. I know that if none of that would have happened, pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, was probably like ‘ugh fucking shoot me.’”
Cook’s joke earned some groans and some uncomfortable laughter from the audience.
What do you think? Was Dane Cook’s joke out of line?
Earlier this month, Daniel Tosh got into some hot water when he joked about an audience member getting raped. Several comedians came to Tosh’s defense saying that it was only a joke.
Cook wrote:
“If you journey through this life easily offended by other peoples words I think it’s best for everyone if you just kill yourself.”
What do you think? Is America too sensitive? Was Dane Cook’s joke too soon?
