WWE Rumors: NXT Star To Debut On Main Roster At ‘Roadblock’ – Set Up Title Match For ‘WrestleMania 32’
With less than a month to go until WrestleMania 32, there are still not a lot of matches confirmed and in place. The other titles are still expected to be added to bouts and defended, but not all opponents are feuds are obvious as of yet. Well, it appears as if NXT star Sami Zayn is finally going to head up to the WWE main roster and wrestle at WrestleMania 32, but his debut is going to happen this Saturday night at Roadblock.
Yes, Zayn has shown up on the main roster a time here and there, but injuries knocked him down a few pegs. Now, his time has come, and he’s about to head out of NXT and back up to the main roster, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports he is making his WrestleMania debut this year.
That being said, he needs to be entered into a feud of some kind, and it seems it will be against his arch-nemesis from NXT, Kevin Owens.
For that to happen though, Zayn will need to make his main roster debut on either a Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. That was originally thought to be the case, but it actually seems as if it could come as soon as this Saturday night on Roadblock, the live special on WWE Network.According to Wrestling Inc., Sami Zayn is indeed booked for the event, which will happen in Toronto this Saturday. Now, there is already a NXT Tag Team Title match on the card, so it’s not like having talent from there is out of the question.
The only thing is that Zayn isn’t scheduled in a match, but he is booked for the show. That could very well mean he will appear, officially head up to WWE’s main roster, and jump right into a feud that went long and strong in NXT, and that is with Owens.
Making things more interesting is that this likely won’t be a one-on-one match for the Intercontinental Title at the huge PPV. It has been rumored lately that the belt will be defended in a multi-man match (possibly with ladders) and include at least six superstars.Kevin Owens recently came out and told the crowd that he needs an opponent for WrestleMania 32, and it looks like he will end up getting one. Well, he won’t be getting one, but he will have at least three and possibly five.
Many have wondered why Dolph Ziggler and The Miz exchanged such odd and quick victories last week on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. It is now known that it wasn’t to set up a match between the two of them, but to get them involved in the multi-man match for the IC Title. It’s also possible that the multi-man match could end up being for the United States Title, which is currently held by Kalisto. He does not have a match set up for WrestleMania 32 yet either, and the ladder bout is right up his alley.
WWE may even throw Sin Cara into that one as well.
If the multi-man ladder match does not end up happening for the Intercontinental Title, then it’s likely going to be a one-on-one match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. This would continue a longtime feud that ended quite abruptly in NXT thanks to Zayn suffering an injury.
Now, if Sami Zayn does appear at Roadblock, it won’t be his main roster debut, as that officially happened some time back against John Cena. Still, it would be his official move and likely set up the huge bout with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 32, making wrestling fans everywhere happy.
