WWE Rumors: Huge Heel Turn Happening On ‘Monday Night Raw’ To Set Up ‘WrestleMania 32’ Match
He arrived in WWE back at the Royal Rumble, and AJ Styles has already seen a lot happen in his time with the company. It appears as if another new wrinkle is about to be added to his storyline in WWE. Even though he’s formed a new tag team with Chris Jericho and it appears they are heading toward a title match with The New Day at WrestleMania 32, it seems there are other plans (and a heel turn) in the cards.
So far, Styles has had a feud with Jericho and singles matches with Curtis Axel and Kofi Kingston. He’s won all but one match, and it was one of the three he has had with Jericho. Since their last match at Fastlane, they’ve formed a tag team that is being called Y2-AJ.
There’s even been a shirt released for the team already on WWE Shop so it seems the “code breaking and risk taking” is going to continue.
The past couple of weeks, the duo has been facing off with The New Day and even saw Styles take on Kingston on SmackDown last week. Styles picked up the win, and it has appeared as if there was a WWE Tag Team Title match being set up for WrestleMania 32.That’s a huge opportunity for Styles as it would be his first shot at a title of any kind in WWE, and it would make for a great match on the biggest WWE Pay-Per-View of the year. Only, that doesn’t appear to be the plans in place.
A match is actually set up for tomorrow’s Monday Night Raw, and it will be for the tag titles. The New Day is putting them on the line against Y2-AJ, but it doesnt appear as if the belts are going to be changing hands just yet.
Fansided is reporting that there are plans in place for Chris Jericho to turn heel on Raw and betray AJ Styles. This would then set up a match between the two of them at WrestleMania 32, and reportedly bring an end to this feud.
Yes, another heel turn for Jericho.
Even though Jericho already turned heel last month and had a third match with Styles at Fastlane, things aren’t done. The user known as u/falconarrow on Reddit is well known for being able to predict and tell a lot of things happening in WWE before they do. He’s been correct on countless big stories in the past, and says that he’s shocked the Y2-AJ shirt came out since a heel turn is happening soon.
Now, it could be Jericho or Styles that turns heel, but it’s likely the former as Styles popularity right now is through the roof.
Some may be against this and not totally understand it, but wrestling fans should be thrilled with it. Having AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho in front of almost 100,000 on the stage at WrestleMania and giving them a good 20 minutes? That’s a hardcore wrestling fan’s dream.
It will be interesting to see if falconarrow’s spoilers for Monday Night Raw end up being correct as it would be a huge heel turn. Not only would it take away the proposed and already built-up WWE tag Team Title match at WrestleMania 32, but start a whole crop of new rumors. One has to wonder if it will be a straight-up wrestling match between Styles and Jericho or have a stipulation attached to it.
There’s also the interesting note that Chris Jericho is set to host an edition of “The Highlight Reel” at Roadblock on the WWE Network on Saturday. A heel Jericho puts a whole different spin on how all things are done.
WrestleMania 32 doesn’t have a whole lot of matches confirmed for it just yet, but more are definitely going to come about on Monday Night Raw. While many thought a WWE Tag Title match would be confirmed, a heel turn could add Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles IV to the card instead.
