Jodie Sweetin is one of the Season 22 Dancing with the Stars contestants this spring, and many are buzzing that she may be a serious contender for the mirror-ball trophy. Sweetin will be partnering with pro Keo Motsepe, and DWTS fans are quite anxious to see this Fuller House star hit the dance floor. What do fans need to know about Jodie?
This new Dancing with the Stars contestant has been in the headlines plenty over the years, although lately it has been for all the right reasons. Jodie Sweetin first became familiar to folks when she starred on Full House as a young child, and now Netflix has revived the show featuring Sweetin and the other original cast members in a new show called Fuller House . The show was released quite recently on Netflix, but it has already been renewed for a second season.

While Jodie seems to be doing quite well right now in her personal life, she has weathered her fair share of ups and downs. As Biography details, the actress was adopted when she was 9-months-old by Sam and Janice Sweetin. Jodie’s biological parents had some intense struggles, as her mother dealt with drug addictions and her father died in a prison riot.
Jodie, who grew up in California, started in the entertainment business at a young age. After some commercials and a brief gig on Valerie , she scored the role of Stephanie Tanner, debuting on Full House at the age of 5. She was with the show for its run from 1987 to 1995, but when she wrapped the show, some personal challenges hit her, and she faced some intense struggles.
Sweetin wrote a book called unSweetined in 2009, and she was quite honest about much of her downward spiral into addiction. As Us Weekly detailed, Jodie was extremely drunk at co-star Candace Cameron Bure’s wedding in 1996, when she was just 14-years-old. Over the years, the actress had issues with crystal meth, cocaine, and ecstasy and hit a low when she drove drunk with her daughter in 2008. She still had some struggles with her addictions after that, but she turned things around several years ago and uses her experiences to help others now.
This Dancing with the Stars contestant has two daughters, Zoie and Beatrix, who were born in 2008 and 2010. Jodie has been married three times, to Shaun Holguin, Cory Herpin, and Morty Coyle, with Herpin and Coyle being the fathers to Zoie and Beatrix. Each of those marriages failed, although Sweetin is now engaged to Justin Hodak , detailed E! Online earlier this year.
Luckily, the Fuller House star got serious about making significant changes, and as People shares, this Dancing with the Stars contestant has now been sober for five years . Despite some time in rehab and some custody battles, Sweetin is proud of having turned things around, and she uses her life experiences to talk with college students about facing adversity and embracing second chances.
Fuller House fans sense that Jodie is in a great place now, and they are thrilled for her. There have been rumors swirling for years that she would tackle Dancing with the Stars , and it seems now the timing is finally right. Sweetin will dance with pro Keo Motsepe, who has previously partnered with Lolo Jones, Charlotte McKinney, and Chaka Khan.
A fair number of DWTS fans were hoping that Jodie would have Val Chmerkovskiy as a partner, given that Val and his brother, Maks, did a guest stint on Fuller House . However, many Dancing with the Stars viewers think that this new partnership could give both Jodie and Keo plenty of opportunities to shine.
It will be a very competitive season this spring, with other contestants like Paige VanZant , Von Miller, Doug Flutie , and Ginger Zee in the mix, but Dancing with the Stars fans are definitely buzzing about having Jodie Sweetin as a contestant in Season 22 and are ready to lend their full support. Do you think Jodie and Keo have a shot at winning this spring’s DWTS Mirrorball trophy?
