Joey Feek: 1975-2016
Joey Feek was born on September 9, 1975, and has passed away on March 4, 2016, at the age of 40. She was a woman who put so much in the dash between 1975 and 2016. The Washington Post has written about her life and death and so has Us Weekly. What is so endearing is that perhaps Joey had no idea of the impact she had on so many people not only around the country, but around the world.
No sooner did Joey’s husband Rory update his blog that his wife had perished at 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon did the media outlets start publishing the news of Joey Feek’s death.
By Friday night, the news of Joey Feek passing away had flooded the internet. Joey was so humble that she would never have expected or believed this could happen. That was Joey, humble, gentle and loving to the very end.

She had some goals to reach in February including watching the Grammys, for which she and husband, Rory, were nominated, air on television. She wanted one more Valentine’s Day since it was the anniversary of the couple’s first date. She was determined to be present for her baby, Indiana’s, second birthday. Sheer will and prayers got her through it. She made those days and more, but the pain was becoming too much for anybody to handle.
Joey’s sister is a nurse and she helped care for Joey during this time. Indy helped to keep her mother’s spirits up. Indy was the best medicine for all of them as the little girl brought laughter and light into the house where the couple was staying.
When they first went to stay in Indiana, they were at Joey’s parent’s house, but it was just too small for all of them so a neighbor gave them a house with a picture window view for Joey.
Joey enjoyed the sunshine, the rain and most especially the first snowfall of the season shared by the view from that large picture window. She was reminded of the wonder of the world and she cherished every moment of her days with her husband and her little girl.
Joey even planted seedlings from her hospital bed for her farm in Tennessee for springtime in front of that picture window. That picture window was her view to the world and of nature that she loved so much.

Joey Feek and her battle with cancer can be viewed and read as her husband Rory chronicled the entire journey at his blog entitled, This Life I Live. Rory is a hit songwriter and he certainly had a way with words.
When Rory announced a few days ago that his wife only had days to live, this is what he posted on his blog.
“Joey has done all she set out to do… even right to the very end, and by sheer will-power (and God’s grace), she was still here to see our baby’s 2nd birthday. Over the last number of weeks her pain had gotten worse and her health had continued to decline rapidly. And not long after Indy’s birthday my wife decided that ‘enough is enough’. She was ready to stop fighting and she told me so. She said the flowers would soon be blooming back in Tennessee. It’s time to go home.”

After his wife’s death, he announced the news of her passing on that very same blog and he told everyone that he “needed to get packing and get back to Tennessee because his bride already had a head start.” Joey+Rory had a special kind of love. You could say an extraordinary kind of love and love story, one that will stay with anyone that followed their journey for a lifetime. Joey+Rory had the last CD released on Valentine’s Day. You can pick up a copy of that CD, Hymns That Are Important To Us on Amazon, iTunes, or from their website.
