Laura Prepon Injected Hormones To Lose Weight


Like many of us, Laura Prepon has been affected by poor self body image and a desperate need to drop her weight. It was so troubling for her that Ms. Prepon resorted to injecting hormones. While that backfired, Laura learned an important lesson about proper diet and exercise.

Prepon admits that there was a time when she felt desperate to lose weight and attain a more athletic body shape. She says she resorted to the use of hormones, because it was a popular method and she was tired of feeling insecure.

”I injected myself with hormones,” confessed the That 70s Show actress. “I was so desperate to look a certain way. Ultimately just ended up backfiring.”

The experience may well have had disastrous results for Prepon, but it taught her there are no shortcuts to a healthier body. She was also inspired to write a weight loss book, The Stash Plan, because she wanted to teach others how to lose weight the right way.

The Stash Plan teaches how to switch to a healthier lifestyle with an emphasis on a vigorous workout regimen. Prepon teamed up with well-being life coach Elizabeth Troy to provide a complete guide for those who feel the need to change their lives.

What Makes Laura Prepon’s The Stash Plan So Different From Other Wellness Books?

Laura remarks that she has read a great many books in the health and wellness category and one book really stood out for her, because it was personal. Prepon equated that book with hanging out with friends and talking about food, something like Sex and the City.

When she decided to write a book of her own, Ms. Prepon said she wanted to go with that same approach. She wanted it to be personal and vulnerable.

“It’s vulnerable for me, because I’m definitely very candid in the book about certain things I’ve had to do in my struggle to lose weight and get my body under control. You know, like being on a crash diet and sneaking into a bathroom stall at the Golden Globes to eat a tiny amount of food. But, whatever, I wanted it to be open and vulnerable about whatever we went through.”

Another aspect of The Stash Plan that Prepon thinks people will find unique are the exercises designed to help stretch the gall bladder. Based upon Chinese meridian theory, Laura says she worked with Troy to develop stretches that will open up the pathways of the body, through which the liver and gall bladder meridian runs. Ms. Prepon adds that the stretches are based on acupuncture and The Stash Plan explains everything, so her readers won’t feel like they’re being handed a handful of magic beans.

The Stash Plan isn’t just a fitness book or just a diet book, but Laura says she wanted to create an overall wellness plan. That was something she’s always sought for herself, so, when she discovered a system that worked for her, Prepon says she wanted to share it with others.

Laura adds that her distinguished approach comes from her upbringing. She says she developed an interest in human anatomy from her father, who was a surgeon, and she found a fascination with food, through the chef in the family, her mom. Combining these two interests into a wellness plan has helped the Orange is the New Black star to bring a way of being healthier that starts from the inside.

Filled with new concepts and a plan based on 5,000 year old Chinese acupuncture theories, Laura Prepon says this book is for all ages. She thinks anyone with an interest in living a healthier lifestyle can benefit from the teachings in The Stash Plan.
