It’s obvious that WWE has lost some faith in talents like The Wyatt Family and all those who make up the Social Outcasts. There is still belief and trust in characters like Ryback, who has recently undergone a bit of a makeover, and WWE appears to be heading toward a singles push for him. It also seems as if he will be turning heel or trying to take on a “don’t care” persona. One former WWE employee believes that Ryback really needs to “beat the crap” out of guys like Brock Lesnar.
Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas wrote for CSR Wrestling and discussed the latest push of Ryback and how he thinks it will go. He knows that Vince McMahon and WWE are always going to take the guys that have “the look” and push them no matter what.
Ryback is getting a push and right now, and WWE pretty much just has him defeating jobbers like the Social Outcasts and solidifying himself as a brute force. This past week on Monday Night Raw , Ryback destroyed Adam Rose, as recapped by WWE.com . Korderas thinks he is ready.
“Ryback is much further along than (Braun) Strowman as far as in ring ability goes so Ryback looks to be the immediate choice for monster heel. This new more aggressive style by Ryback is yet another attempt to get fans interested in him as he just was not connecting as a fan favorite.”
Now, not only does Korderas think that Ryback could go places and do great things in WWE, but he feels as if he can hang with the big boys. If given the creative freedom to pursue his own character, Ryback could be the kind of brute force that could even take out Brock Lesnar.
Yes, Korderas said that.
“I believe the WWE should allow Ryback a little creative freedom to be more himself. He is actually a very well-spoken individual with a vast vocabulary. He could be the intellectual monster. Most big guys tend to be portrayed as brooding, angry people who tend to shout during promos. I would like to see Ryback speak like Nick Bockwinkle and beat the crap out of opponents like Brock Lesnar.”
In order to hang with Brock Lesnar , it takes a certain type of wrestler, star, and in-ring talent. It also takes someone that WWE knows half or more than half of the crowd is going to come down on and boo them out of the building.
Dean Ambrose may be one of the very few exceptions. Ryback? Well, if he’s going to eventually feud with Brock Lesnar, then WWE might as well turn him full-blown heel right now.
Not only does Korderas feel as if Ryback could go far, but he feels it could happen sooner than some of the other monsters WWE wants to push. Braun Strowman of The Wyatt Family is one that could be the next giant in wrestling, but he’s still got a lot to learn.
Korderas agrees with that mindset and thinks that Strowman could do big things in WWE, but he’s not quite ready. There is still a good bit to learn from the Wyatts.
“Another monster that the WWE seems to want to invest in is Braun Strowman. He is absolutely huge, still very green but enormous.”
Over the years, Ryback has been given a number of chances to move forward, but they’ve always fallen short and died out. Then, he has to be pushed again to see if it will work. WWE obviously believes in his talent and his character as it is happening again.
Ryback has gotten a new look and a new attitude for the direction the WWE wants to take him in. For now, he doesn’t have a match at WrestleMania 32 , but it seems that is going to end up changing. It may not be a returning Bill Goldberg and he may not get to “beat the crap” out of Brock Lesnar yet, but he’ll be there in some capacity.
