Ben Affleck Avoids Talk Of Jennifer Garner’s ‘Vanity Fair’ Article In First Interview For ‘Batman V Superman’

In a night where most of Hollywood’s top talents gathered together for the prestigious Academy Awards, Ben Affleck appeared as a guest in a hilarious episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. While his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, stunned everyone on the red carpet, Affleck smuggled in his best friend Matt Damon in an attempt to end the long-standing feud between Damon and Kimmel.

According to the New York Daily News, Affleck showed up on set wearing an oversized coat. Under the jacket, Affleck was hiding Damon, who came out after Kimmel questioned the actor about what he was hiding underneath his massive jacket.

“I just think it’s gone on long enough,” Affleck told Kimmel after exposing Damon. “I think it’s time to bury the hatchet.”

Despite Affleck’s attempts at reconciling the two, Kimmel was having none of it. If anything, the attempt made Kimmel angrier at Damon, whom he accused of ruining the show.

“You’re ruining the Oscar show, nobody wants you here,” Kimmel replied. “I’m more upset at you.”

According to Us Magazine, Damon and Kimmel have playfully feuded with each other for a number of years. Apparently, their feud began after it was reported that Damon had been a little too friendly with Kimmel’s now-ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman.

Unfortunately, Affleck’s attempt at ending the feud did not work out. In fact, while Kimmel had Damon ousted from the set, the host showed a few hilarious skits, including one which poked fun at Damon’s recent film The Martian.

According to USA Today, even Kimmel’s audience tried to help the two resolve their longstanding feud. However, their efforts were in vain as Kimmel and Damon’s ill feelings towards each other remain stronger than ever.

Meanwhile, following Damon’s early exit from the show, the conversation turned towards Affleck’s recent break-up with Jennifer Garner. While the Batman v Superman star avoided directly addressing his marriage, he did discuss a recent birthday party he attended for his son, Samuel.

The theme of the party was superheroes, which offered an opportunity for Affleck to impress his young son. In fact, Ben Affleck showed up at the party dressed as Batman, complete with the costume from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Apparently, the actor had to call the studio in order to get permission to wear the costume, and he even signed an agreement that he wouldn’t ruin the suit.

In speaking about his appearance as Batman to his son’s party, Affleck admitted that it was somewhat embarrassing, especially considering how other parents were present.

“It was mortifying,” Affleck shared. “I didn’t think — all the parents were there.”

Apart from his revelations about the party, Affleck did not talk about the status of his relationship with Garner. Although the two announced their divorce last summer, Garner recently shared how Affleck is still the love of her life, leading to more speculation on where they currently stand.

Affleck’s appearance came on the heels of Jennifer Garner’s first interview since the A-listers announced their split last June. In her very revealing interview with Vanity Fair, Jen all but confirmed that Ben cheated on her with their nanny. She claimed he is complicated but is also the love of her life.

“We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny,” said Garner. “She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes.”

It should be noted that Affleck’s camp vehemently denies the rumors that he cheated.

Garner stated, “He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy.”

“We still have to help each other get through this,” she said. “He’s still the only person who really knows the truth about things. And I’m still the only person that knows some of his truths.”
