Ian Somerhalder And Nikki Reed Put Split Rumors To Rest With PDA At The Independent Spirit Awards And Oscars

Nina Dobrev who? Nikki Reed stepped out this weekend with hubby Ian Somerhalder, and didn’t shy away as she put on quite the PDA show, putting to rest any whispers about trouble brewing inside the couple’s marriage.

First, it was at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica on Saturday night were Nikki made quite the impression, states the Daily Mail. The Twilight actress looked slender and sexy in a light green dress that just touched the floor and showed a little sex appeal with an open back and slit in front, showing her chest.

The 27-year-old beauty looked amazing next to Ian who stepped out in a more casual look, perfect for the beachfront awards ceremony. Somerhalder wore a tailored black jacket and a pair of dark 7 For All Mankind FoolProof Denim Paxton skinny jeans. Underneath the open jacket was a white shirt, no tie, with the top button kept undone.

As the camera grabbed pictures of the newlyweds, it was clear that the two are infatuated with each other. Standing as close to each other as possible the couple hugged and kissed in front of the cameras and couldn’t hide their smiles all night.

The next day was Oscar day, and for Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, this meant getting glammed up for Elton John’s annual Oscar screening party in West Hollywood. Ian dressed up for this one wearing a navy blue suit and white button up while sporting a black bow-tie. Nikki dazzled in a gold dress – perfect color for the occasion – with an elegant train. Again, Nikki and Ian stuck close together and had the look of love in their eyes.

Are Nikki and Ian stepping out to squash recent rumors that Ian may want to reunite with his former Vampire Diaries co-star and longtime girlfriend, Nina Dobrev? Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that Nikki has been a hot, jealous mess whenever the topic of Ian and his ex-girlfriend, Dobrev, was brought up, causing some cracks in their shaky marriage. And the outcry of fans hasn’t helped.

Despite the fact that it’s been over a year since Dobrev left The CW’s hit show, and even longer since she split from Somerhalder, fans have been begging for a reunion between Nina’s Elena Gilbert, and Ian’s Damon Salvatore.

So, when fans hit Twitter recently with endless memes, quotes, and photos of Ian and Nina together with the hashtag, “We miss Damon and Elena,” some reported it was another sign for Nikki that she should be worried about losing her husband to the former Vampire Diaries star.

Reportedly, the fan outcry and Nikki’s worries about a Damon and Elena reunion onscreen have driven a wedge between herself and Ian, which sprouted the rumors of an impending divorce. However, recent outings and public declarations of love between Nikki and Ian should dispel any such reports that their marriage is anything but blossoming.

Ian recently opened up to People about life with Nikki and shared that he is most happy “every single morning I wake up. Every single day. Look who I get to wake up with. We’re under kitties and dogs, and it’s just pure bliss.”

So, will that happiness turn into a bouncing baby anytime soon? That remains to be seen. While Ian has been very open about his desire to start a family, Nikki may not be on the same page just yet. “Well, you know, those are the coolest little things in the world,” Somerhalder told Entertainment Tonight about babies. “Standby,” he added.

How long we will have to standby remains to be seen, because an inside source told Life & Style that the happy couple may not be on the same page about when is the right time to start a family.

“[He] has really been pushing Nikki to start a family… She feels she’s just not ready yet, and that’s put a tremendous strain on their marriage. She wants to focus on her work for animal rights causes. Ian supports her, but he thinks it’s the right time for a baby.”
