The highly anticipated Suits Season 5 finale airs this Wednesday, March 2 on the USA Network. Titled, “25th Hour,” spoilers hinted that either Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) or Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) could end up in jail for conspiracy to commit fraud.

In the last episode of Suits Season 5 , viewers saw Mike ready to cut a deal with Anita Gibbs (Leslie Hope). The prosecutor previously presented him with two options: throw Harvey, Jessica (Gina Torres) or Louis (Rick Hoffman) under the bus by admitting that one of them knew that he was a fraud and hired him anyway or plead guilty and serve two years in prison.

Mike’s fiancé Rachel (Meghan Markle) was not at all happy with the options Gibbs’ presented. She pointed out that he had a solid closing statement, adding that the jury believed that he was innocent. She said that Mike looked like the same empathetic, brilliant man that she fell in love with. Mike, however, refused to believe that he can get away with it unscathed.

“Rachel, the jury is not in love with me. What if all they saw when they look at me was the same fraud that I’ve been since the first day I took that job.”

Mike then admitted that he was thinking of taking the deal, as he was beginning to feel guilty for all the things he has done in the past.

“All I know is it’s the surefire way to put this thing to bed and make sure that the only person who is hurt by it is me,” Mike explained.

Elsewhere in the last Suits Season 5 episode, Harvey was seen talking to Donna (Sarah Rafferty) about turning himself in. He later admitted that he thought it was his fault, by choosing to hire Mike, that they were in this mess in the first place.

Just like Rachel, Donna believed that Mike and Harvey had a fighting chance of making the jury believe that the former is innocent.

“I am asking you to believe that the two of you are worthy of being found innocent.”

In the Suits Season 5 finale promo, Mike told Harvey that it was done, hinting that he already took Gibbs’ offer. Harvey is clearly frustrated with Mike’s actions. He again insisted that all of this would have never happened if he did not hire him in the first place.

“I am not letting you go to prison for a crime that I committed,” Mike retaliated.

Meanwhile, speaking to Yahoo TV , Suits star Meghan Markle revealed that she and Gabriel Macht were not at all thrilled when they found out what will happen in the Season 5 finale. The actress shared that she even went as far as writing to Suits creator Aaron Korsh to pen what she thought will be the perfect way to cap the fifth season.

“I wrote to him like, ‘Maybe the scene could be written like this,’ and I wrote out this script to him. He laughed and was like, ‘What, do you want a staff writing position now?’”

Markle’s efforts, however, eventually paid off. The night before they shot the finale for Suits season 5, Korsh changed the ending to how Meghan envisioned it to be. Turns out, he had the same idea as the actress initially.

“I would love if people could see both endings and then choose which one they would have loved to have had, but I am certainly much happier with the way that it all came to be,” Markle shared.
