‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Emilia Clarke All But Confirms Jon Snow Is Alive In Season 6
Despite all of the promotional materials and trailers, fans are still no closer to knowing whether or not Jon Snow (Kit Harington) will return in full form in Season 6 of Game of Thrones. However, did Emilia Clarke recently confirm that Jon will be back in the upcoming season?
According to Express, Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, made the potentially huge revelation while presenting at the Film Independent Awards. Nate Parker appeared next to Clarke on stage and brought up the topic of Jon’s death and if he was still alive.
“We’re here to talk about things that are much more important… like Jon Snow,” Parker stated.
However, Clarke avoided answering the question directly and remained quiet on the subject. This led to Parker taking a different tactic in order to squeeze out a potential spoiler.
Parker then told Clarke to wink if Jon was alive. In reply, Clarke gave fans a huge wink before proceeding with the ceremonies. Did her wink mean that Jon is alive, or was Clarke simply misleading fans?
At this point, it would be fairly mean for Clarke to play mind games with fans. Even still, there is little chance that she would leak such a huge revelation before the series returns to television. Ultimately, fans will have to read what they like from her actions, unless more information is revealed in the coming months.
As fans will recall, Jon met his apparent end at the end of Season 5. Following his tragic and untimely end, most fans refused to believe that Jon was really killed off. Harington, however, appeared to put such to questions to rest after he revealed that his character really is dead.
“I was hoping that there would be an outcry of ‘why?’ and ‘oh god, no, no’ rather than ‘thank god.’ That was the right reaction as far as I was concerned!” Harington shared. “People didn’t want me to die, but he’s dead. So there you go, everyone has to get used to it.”
That being said, there have been several hints that Jon might still be alive. According to the Daily Mail, this includes several promotional images of Jon that were recently released which point towards the possibility he will return for the new season.
Although the photo in question featured the floating head of the former Lord Commander, there were other characters included in the hall of faces that have yet to die. With the series playing with the idea of what constitutes death, there appears to be an opening for Jon’s resurrection in the new season.
At the same time, the upcoming season is the first one not based directly on a book by George R.R. Martin. Not only does this leave fans guessing about what’s to come, but it also leaves the series open for more flexibility in its storyline. Although some parts of the season will come from A Dance with Dragons and A Feast for Crows, anything is a possibility for next season.
Whether or not this means that Jon will be resurrected in Season 6 is yet to be seen. Considering how popular the character has been in previous seasons, there is a good chance that producers will bring him back. However, this is Game of Thrones, where no character is ever safe from certain elimination.
Martin’s sixth book, titled The Winds of Winter, is expected to be released at some point after the upcoming season of Game of Thrones.
The sixth season of Game of Thrones, meanwhile, is set to return to TV on April 24 on HBO.
