Katt Williams Arrested For Assault One Day After Calling Kevin Hart A ‘Puppet’

Katt Williams has managed to shock his fans, again, after he was arrested in Georgia for allegedly assaulting a pool store employee. TMZ reported that the comedian was arrested after the altercation escalated and Williams punched the employee. News of Katt Williams’ alleged assault arrest came just one day after he made waves taking aim at Kevin Hart. Williams seemed to think Hart is a “Hollywood puppet,” and said as much in a recent Atlanta show. Then, Williams’ proved that he was no one’s puppet and got himself arrested the very next day, adding to his growing list of arrests.

Williams was arrested outside of Leslie’s Pool Supplies on Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville, Georgia, on Monday after an argument turned ugly. Williams was reportedly in the store with two women when he got upset and threw a pair of goggles at the store employee. Then, Katt Williams reportedly came around the counter and punched the man. Police were called and when they arrived, Katt was already laying on the ground with his hands behind his back.

“Mr. Williams was not forthcoming with any information,” Holbrook said. When Katt was asked what happened inside the store, he told officers to ask the alleged victim what happened. Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said in an email that Williams faces a misdemeanor battery charge. Katt already posted $5,000 bail and was released from the Hall County Jail. So far, a spokesperson for Leslie’s Pool Supplies and Katt Williams’ publicist have failed to comment on the arrest.

News of Williams’ arrest came just one day after he went on a rant aimed at Kevin Hart. At the end of a recent Atlanta show, Katt went on a rant about his long time competition and comedy nemesis. The two comedians have never really been on good terms but it looks like Katt has thrown down the gauntlet now and there will never be a Kevin Hart-Kat Williams joint comedy Show.

“I’ve already proven that if the best they got in comedy is Kevin Hart — don’t you boo a black man working hard, baby,” Katt told his audience. “Even if that n****’s a puppet, it’s not his fault. We don’t get mad. Just because I’m better than some black dudes, doesn’t mean I’m better than no black dudes. I’m saying if you want to be mad at Kermit The Frog, don’t be mad at Kermit The Frog, be mad at Jim Henson. Don’t say, ‘F**k Donald Duck’ when you really mean, ‘F**k Walt Disney.”

Some Kevin Hart fans felt like Katt Williams was taking shots at Hart out of jealousy. While he was busy ranting about how Hart is “Hollywood’s puppet,” Kevin Hart was busy rubbing elbows at the Academy Awards. He may not have won an Oscar on Sunday night, and he wasn’t even nominated, but he was a lot closer to the trophy than Katt Williams was.

Kevin Hart took a photo at the Oscars with comedy giants Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. The caption of the picture posted on Instagram was aimed directly at Katt Williams. “True professionals understand the importance of sticking together & supporting one another…at the end of the day we are comedians [and] there aren’t many that make it to [the] level that we have made it.” Kevin continued in what seemed to be a celebration and a rant at the same time by saying, “But so many doors are opened from the success of one comedian [and] when you see those doors open you then have the opportunity to walk [through] them…it’s about helping one another not trying to tear each other down!” Kevin Hart threw a real dagger to close out his message, saying, “The insecure ones will never understand.”
