The post-launch status update made by Capcom director of media and e-sports, Neidel Crisan, via Capcom’s official blog explained that they are continuously improving the matchmaking feature for Ranked and Casual battles. “Throughout the weekend and after the server reset, most players should be matched up with opponents at a quicker rate than before,” the post shared.
Moreover, according to the post, slow matchmaking is still an issue for Street Fighter 5 players in Europe, the Middle East and other areas. However, the blog update assured gamers that the server team is aware of the issues and will still be searching for answers to mend the problems. The Capcom blog also made the following statement.
“Our goal is to provide the best online experience for all users, and if you are not in a region that has a large number of users with stable connections, it will take longer to find a suitable opponent. Again, we will continue to look at this issue and find ways to circumvent longer than intended wait times for matchmaking.”
As also cited in the status update, Street Fighter 5 players should not experience disconnection when they are in a lounge. Accordingly, enhancements have been made to Battle Lounges. However, “the ability to search and join Battle Lounges still needs improvement as it is not functioning as intended,” the post explained.
Street Fighter 5 officially hit the shelves on February 16. It is the fifth and the latest major installment from the legendary fighting video game series co-developed by Dimps. The fighting game from Capcom is available for PlayStation 4 as well as Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms. The PS4 version of Street Fighter 5 received a 77 Metascore on Metacritic. It also got a User Score of 3.3, with generally unfavorable reviews from more than 800 user ratings.
A review from a Metacritic user that goes by the name “narillion” shared that Street Fighter 5 is an “incomplete game.” The game is oriented to online play, “but online doesn’t work,” he added. “Single player mode was awful. The user personally believed that Street Fighter 5 is a “fraud” as “Capcom tried to sell a demo as a complete game.”
Meanwhile, from the Critic Review section of the site, The Game Machine described Street Fighter 5 as an “excellent fighting game, beautiful to watch and play, with an incredibly deep gameplay and plenty of new moves to learn and master.” It also cited that not having a real single player experience may be an issue; although, SFV is expected “to expand in the next few months.” The review further noted that currently, Street Fighter 5 is “simply the best multiplayer fighting game around.”
Moreover, below is IGN’s review for Street Fighter 5 posted on YouTube. The post description shared that the game is a “first-rate competitive fighting game, but unforgivably weak in ways for anyone else to enjoy it.”
