‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Teases Future Oliver Queen And A Second Green Arrow In ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’

The crossover between Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow was announced last month with Oliver Queen making the jump. But unlike previous crossovers, this one is going to show the older version of Oliver, which resembles him from The Dark Knight Returns, but now fans finally get to see what Oliver looks like as the old man version of the Green Arrow.

With the caption, “Get up old man,” Stephen Amell posted the picture below via Twitter. With next week’s episode set in the year 2046, it makes the Star City savior 61-years-old. Also, when it was announced that Oliver would be time-jumping in a future episode of Legends of Tomorrow, it was also said that he would be sporting a goatee and missing an arm. In the picture that Amell posted, his goatee is on full display, however, it appears he also still has two upper limbs. This leads many to believe that one of his arms is either robotic or it will get cut off during the episode.

While a previous crossover episode has occurred already, with that one showing a present day Oliver working with Ray Palmer, or the A.T.O.M. to take down a H.I.V.E faction, the new episode returns some 30 years later to discover the destruction Vandal Savage has since caused.

But Oliver won’t be fighting alone in the future either. While Queen will still be fighting crime with his archery skills, he’ll also be joined by Connor Hawke, states Movie Pilot. For non-comic book junkies, Connor Hawke is the second Green Arrow in the comics.

Unlike the comics, however, in Starling City’s universe, the second emerald arrow won’t be portrayed as Oliver’s son, and instead, Oliver will be passing the torch in sort of a Batman Beyond approach. And while Connor Hawke hasn’t yet been introduced in Arrow, another image posted by Amell confirmed that he will be in the upcoming Legends episode.

Meanwhile, Comic Book reports that the upcoming episode will be all about the heroes of Starling City facing a shocking version of their beloved city in a future where they failed to stop Savage (Casper Crump). The city is in ruins, which is clear by the pictures released so far, and criminals will be running the streets.

In another picture posted by Stephen Amell that got fans curious (below), Oliver is face to face with an unknown masked man with Amell writing “Old feuds die hard. Legends. Next Week” in the caption. With Amell’s words along with the fact that the masked villain is sporting familiar armor and a sword, it’s assumed that the unidentified person is a relative of Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke.

With Slade already mentioning that he has a son named Joe, and Amell saying that “another Wilson” would eventually appear, it likely means that the masked villain is the DC TV version of Jericho. This theory goes along with what was previously said about a villain who will “pick up his father’s legacy.”

Of course, some believe that it isn’t a relative of Slade but indeed Deathstroke himself. Recently, it was announced that Manu Bennet (Slade Wilson) wouldn’t be returning to Arrow due to another commitment to a separate DC project. Could Legends of Tomorrow be that other project?

Also, if The Green Arrow isn’t Oliver’s son in the future, where is he? Does he not follow in his father’s footsteps?

Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
