‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Will Finally Reveal The Fate Of April And Jackson’s Marriage In ‘Unbreak My Heart’
In a sneak peak for the next all-new episode of Grey’s Anatomy, “Unbreak My Heart,” fans get to see a crazed April as she confronts hubby Jackson about being served with divorce papers. And if that isn’t bad enough, April was served while in the emergency room!
While it was revealed through Meredith’s inadvertent eavesdropping on April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Jackson Avery’s (Jesse Williams) conversation about divorce during last week’s episode, it appears that was a set-up for the upcoming Japril-centric episode.
“What does it matter how loud my voice is when 35 people just saw me get served with divorce papers in the middle of the emergency room?” says April as they walk past Nathan and Maggie, reports Wet Paint. “It’s only been four weeks. Four, Jackson. That’s all the counseling you can handle before bailing? You said you wanted to try!”
Though Jackson previously told April that he would agree to marriage counseling in order to save their relationship, it appears April wants to know why he is giving up so soon, but Jackson says that after four weeks of counseling, it’s clear to him that it’s not working. “I did try. It didn’t work,” Jackson says to April as they continue down a medical wing. “It didn’t get us anywhere. We have the same exact fight over and over again, in circles. I’m telling you it’s not working.” Jackson also revealed via the teaser that it was the moment that April decided to leave for her trip to Jordan that he decided enough was enough and threw in the towel.
IBTimes also states that while the teaser showed one conversation between April and Jackson, the entire episode will be centered around them, with flashbacks featuring the ups and downs of their relationship. The synopsis for the upcoming episode revealed that, “The evolution of April and Jackson’s relationship is revealed through a series of flashbacks.” It’s also reported that viewers will be able to witness the very first time that Jackson and April met, which hasn’t been shown on previous episodes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Sarah Drew said that although episodes nine and ten show viewers little pieces of Jackson and April’s current relationship, Episode 11 of Grey’s Anatomy would be the episode that decides their fate.
“You don’t really find out what really happened with April and Jackson until episode 11… It’s one of those special episodes.”
Christian Today also confirms that along with flashbacks of when April and Jackson first met, there will also be flashbacks from their wedding day, as well as the big moment that April choose to re-enlist herself to help as a medical staff in Jordan after their baby passed away.
The storyline and flashbacks of Jackson and April will also flow alongside “the years-long progress of one of Jackson’s patients,” the synopsis also stated. Maya Stojan, who stars in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will portray Jackson’s patient. So, with things reaching a boiling point between Jackson and April, what will their future be by the end of the episode? Will Jackson want April to sign the divorce papers, or will April convince Jackson that they need more marriage counseling?
Also, the episode will feature the return of Jackson’s mother, Catherine Avery, played by actress Debbie Allen. But does she have enough magic to help Jackson and April mend their broken relationship?
