Drake And Rihanna Dating Again? ‘Work’ Music Video Director Opens Up About Duo’s Chemistry

Drake and Rihanna may be reigniting dating rumors following the release of their dual music video for “Work,” but is the former couple really getting back together? Director Tim Erem, who shot the “pink room” footage of Drake and Rihanna’s new music video, weighs in on the duo’s onscreen chemistry and reveals whether or not he believes Drake and Rihanna are currently an item.

Speaking on the filming process for the duo’s second “Work” music video, Swedish director Tim Erem reveals that they shot the video inside of a Los Angeles Foot Locker back in January, which explains the leaked photos that emerged on social media of the duo’s video set at a L.A. mall last month, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Despite fans’ excitement over the dual video concept, Erem admits that it wasn’t always the plan for Drake and Rihanna to record two videos for “Work,” noting that his pink room video “was basically just a small setup of that whole original idea we had for it.”

Tim Erem continued, “We just decided not to [use that footage] for ‘Work’ anymore even though we shot it. We decided to change the track, and they obviously still needed something for ‘Work.’ We don’t know what’s going on with it. It’s for sure one of my best pieces I’ve ever made. Hopefully it’s something that people will see soon.”

Speaking on Drake and Rihanna’s onscreen chemistry, which has since reignited dating rumors for the former couple following their abrupt split in 2014, Erem revealed, “You just put them in front of the camera and they’re like the two coolest, most interesting artists you can see. Doing this with someone else would be the most boring video you’ve ever seen. But these two artists can carry a whole video in one setup.”

“Everyone’s asking, are they together or they this or are they that? No, they’re friends.”

“They’re just amazing performers and they’re really close to each other,” Tim Erem concluded, “So everything was natural.”

While Drake and Rihanna’s chemistry may have fans hoping for a reunion between the “Diamonds” singer and “Hotline Bling” rapper, Rihanna recently spoke out about her dating life during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres for The Ellen DeGeneres Show a few weeks ago.

When asked if she’s currently seeing anyone special, Rihanna admitted, “I’m single right now, I just think that I have so much on my plate that I can’t even find the time to entertain a steady relationship or anything serious or even a text. Right now, it’s just crazy.”

When DeGeneres’ presses the songstress about her rumored romance with Drake following the release of “Work,” Rihanna explains that she “would love to go on tour with Drake” but neglected to respond further to the dating speculation.

While it’s unclear whether or not we’ll get to see Drake and Rihanna perform their new track live, rumors continue to circulate that Drake may make a surprise appearance during Rihanna’s performance at the 2016 Brit Awards tonight, February 24, although Rihanna’s team has not confirmed those rumors.
