Melissa Joan Hart Teases ‘Sabrina, The Teenage Witch’ Reboot
Melissa Joan Hart is teasing that a reboot of the classic 1990’s comedy Sabrina, the Teenage Witch may be in the works sooner rather than later.
Hart made the big Sabrina admission in a new interview with Popsugar, where Melissa confessed that there have been rumblings about bringing the series back to TV in recent months.
“I’ve gotten emails about it recently,” Melissa Joan Hart candidly revealed to Popsugar of the possibility of a Sabrina, the Teenage Witch reboot, where she also admitted that she’d definitely be open to reprising her half-witch, half-mortal character.
“If it’s done right, then why not?” Hart said, “If there’s a great writer, and brilliant premise.”
And it sounds like Melissa Joan Hart has a few ideas of her own when it comes to the premise of a possible series reprise, as the former Melissa and Joey star also told the site that she has a few ideas when it comes to what her much-loved character would be doing now.
“I think they’d [Sabrina and her husband, Harvey] be living in the suburbs with a few kids,” Melissa revealed. “Sabrina always wanted to be as normal as possible! Did she ever use her powers again, would be the real question…”
“I don’t think she would have gone after a magical hero-type lifestyle,” Hart continued of Sabrina, “I think she’d lay low and probably use magic for her domestic skills, doing chores, and making meals with non-GMO products,” Hart joked.
But while it sounds like Hart, who portrayed Sabrina on the ABC/The WB sitcom for seven years, is ready to bring the show back, Melissa also confessed to the site that she was actually pretty happy with the way the teen series ended when it left our screens back in 2003.
“I do think the seventh season couldn’t have wrapped up nicer. Harvey and Sabrina riding off on a motorcycle while No Doubt played — sorry for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet— but fan fiction is probably going to end up being better [than a reboot],” Hart told Popsugar.
“Everyone has different ideas, and fans will end up imagining bigger and better things than we could probably ever do. It’s a tough thing to do correctly,” Melissa added of a Sabrina, the Teenage Witch reprise.

Melissa Joan Hart previously hinted at a Sabrina, the Teenage Witch reprise back in May 2015, when she teased to E! News that she’d “never say never” when it came to the possibility of bringing the supernatural series back to TV.
“I think it would have to be done really right. You can only go back to the well so many times,” Hart said last year, joking that a reprise of the series could go one of two ways. “It’s either going to be done really well and people will only know me as this one character for the rest of my life … or it’s going to be really embarrassing and I’ll never work again!” Melissa said.
Adding that she has nothing but fond memories of her time on the show, as well as the other huge teen hit, Clarissa Explains It All, Hart told the site in 2015 that she knew the cast and crew would have to be “really careful” if Sabrina, the Teenage Witch did ever make a triumphant return.
“I don’t know,” Melissa Joan Hart said, “If we were going to re-do [Sabrina or Clarissa], I would take real quality control measures to make sure that this is going to be something fantastic. I think it’s a really tricky, fine line to walk as an actor… I had a fantastic time on that show.”
