WWE Breaking News: Shane McMahon Returns To ‘WWE RAW’, Will Face Undertaker At ‘WrestleMania 32’
As you can tell from the title, Shane McMahon has returned to WWE Monday Night RAW, and a ton of news came out of the 30-minute segment that he was involved in.
The show opened up with Vince McMahon’s presentation of the Vincent J. McMahon Award of Excellence. There was plenty of speculation surrounding who would win this award, and most figured the winner would be Triple H. However, the award was given to Stephanie McMahon.
Stephanie came out to thunderous boos, and before she could begin thanking people, Shane McMahon’s music hit, and the crowd went nuts.
Before the show, Dave Metlzer of the Wrestling Observer noted that there was something huge planned for tonight’s show, but he didn’t include any specifics. Obviously that “something huge” turned out to be Shane McMahon.
Shane has been out of WWE for roughly seven years, and during his time away, he’s been building his own business’s. Of course, everyone expected that he would be back in WWE at some point, but nobody ever expected that it would be anytime soon.
There was a lot that went down in the Shane/Stephanie/Vince segment. Including the reveal of Undertaker’s opponent at WrestleMania 32.
Shane told Vince that he wanted control of WWE, and Vince responded by telling Shane that he could have it, as long as he wrestles, and defeats an opponent of his choosing at WrestleMania 32. Shane agreed, which led to Vince announcing that Shane O’Mac would be wrestling Undertaker at AT&T Stadium, inside Hell in a Cell.

Before tonight, it was reported that Undertaker’s opponent at WrestleMania would be someone who isn’t currently on the main roster. Some guessed that it would end up being Sting, others suggested Finn Balor. But no one guessed that it would be Shane McMahon.
Every time Vince McMahon has come back to WWE television, he’s always looked for a way to write himself off, and while he’s not on television every week as the show’s authority figure, he has appeared frequently over the last couple of months. So if Shane ends up winning at WrestleMania 32, then that could be Vince’s latest swan song.
WWE fans have been begging for a new on-screen authority figure over the last year or so, and it looks like WWE may finally be listening to them.
Undertaker will obviously be the heel this coming spring at AT&T Stadium, which will be interesting because WrestleMania 32 is taking place in his home state of Texas. But, if there’s a way to get him booed in his home state, WWE likely just figured it out.

As previously noted, Shane McMahon has been away from WWE for about seven years, and he hasn’t wrestled for even longer than that. So it’ll be interesting to see what he can do when he returns to the ring this coming April.
It’s unclear what will happen to Triple H and Stephanie if Shane ends up winning his match at ‘Mania. But it’s unlikely that they’ll continue to be weekly characters.
There’s a chance that Shane may end up getting involved in the main-event of the show if he wins. WWE has been trying to figure out a way to not get Roman Reigns booed in the show’s main-event, so having Shane O’Mac be in Reigns’ corner may prevent the fans in attendance from booing Reigns, who is expected to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the show.
