Exorcist Believes Attractive Women Are Prone To Demonic Possession

As if the paranormal realm could get any stranger, an exorcist from Ghana believes that there are certain demonic entities in oblivion that are drawn to attractive women, making them prone to possession by demonic spirits. According to Mallam Luthfi Jamal-Baba, attractive women are most susceptible to demonic possession.

His reasoning for this is the choices in clothing. He says that, while men are not immune to demonic attacks and possession, the form-fitting and cleavage-revealing clothes that many attractive women wear not only gains affection from men, but also earns notice from demonic minions.

In an interview with Ghanaweb earlier this week, Jamal-Baba said that certain demonic spirits prefer attractive women when they come out to play. Jinn, as demons are called in Muslim lore, prefer attractive, scantily clad women as hosts for possession.

Jamal-Baba offers a suggestion to women who don’t wish to give up their favorite outfits any more than they want to be at risk for demonic possession. He says that a vigorous prayer rituals and regular baths every day will keep the exorcist away.

His peer and fellow exorcist, Mallam Mohammad, however, disagrees with Jamal-Baba in this regard. He believes that bathing in the water or the sun only serves as further invitation for these demonic entities, and that the only sure way to avoid possession is for women to “wrap up” and dress as modestly as possible.

Mohammad also believes that striking the afflicted women is the most effective way to expel demonic spirits from their hosts.

“The victims, at that moment, do not feel the pain. The jinns are the ones who feel the pain and it is at this moment, together with the Quranic recitation, that they flee,” Mohammad said.

Jamal-Baba mentions a few of the warning signs of demonic possession in women. Ladies who talk to themselves, do things to cause injury to themselves or others, or attempt to kill other people could be victims of possession.

He also gives instructions on how to do an exorcism at home, should women we know fall prey to possession by these vain jinn. He says to begin by recruiting people to help restrain the afflicted women with things like ropes or chains if the demon is particularly feisty, and then having a volunteer read the Quran aloud.

“Some of the jinns are stubborn and when the victim is in a trance, they become violent and try to attack the exorcist during the exercise. When it happens that way, the victims are tied with a rope and sometimes chained to chairs to keep them calm,” Jamal-Baba said.

He, unlike Mohammad, believes that hitting the women is not only unproductive in banishing the demonic entity, but that it is also cruel to the women who involuntarily harbor them.

A man, who simply called himself Aminu, said that his sister started exhibiting symptoms of demonic possession when she turned 20.

“She locked herself up in her room most of the time and we could hear her talk to herself as if she were with someone,” Aminu told Ghanaweb. He said that his sister was later exorcised successfully.

Not everyone in Ghana thinks that demonic possession is the only explanation for women who hurt themselves or others, however. Nuworza Kugbey, a psychologist, believes in more traditional treatments for such occurrences. He believes that all of these symptoms are related to various psychotic and psychiatric disorders.

“These are disorders that can be treated with both meditation and psychotherapy,” said Kugbey.
