‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Ready To Take Their Real-Life Romance Public?

It’s every Outlander fan’s dream to see Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe take their on-screen romance to real life. Based on their steamy chemistry behind the camera, fans have long speculated about a secret romance off-set. With that in mind, are the two Outlander stars ready to go public with their relationship?

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Heughan and Balfe were seen flirting in between takes during filming for the second season of Outlander. Although this may have simply been the two sharing a few jokes, the reports of the two holding hands indicates something deeper.

An extra on the set of Season 2 told Celeb Dirty Laundry that Heughan and Balfe were flirty on set and even looked as though they were a regular couple. Is this proof that the two are keeping their relationship secret?

“Sam and Caitriona were taking a short break between scenes when I saw them off to the side, holding hands and Sam was even whispering in her ear,” the source explained. “She was laughing at whatever he said and well, they looked like an ordinary couple.”

While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, Outlander fans around the world would no doubt love to see the two together in real life. After all, Heughan and Balfe are great on screen and are good friends outside of work. In more ways than one, the two would certainly be great for each other.

That being said, the reports of a brewing romance between the two stars has reached the point where both Balfe and Heughan attempted to clear the air. In an interview with E! Online, Balfe denied the reports that she is dating Heughan and remained adamant that they are just friends.

“We’re not together,” She revealed in the interview. “It’s funny. We’ve always said from the get-go that we’re incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it’s great that we’re able to get along that well. We’re not together. I’m sorry to break people’s hearts. They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story. But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together.”

It is interesting to note that Balfe’s main reason for not dating Heughan is because their relationship could interfere with their work on Outlander. With that in mind, are the two waiting for the release of the second season before making any big announcements?

While Balfe denied the reports, Heughan seemed a little more open to the idea of dating his co-star. In fact, after Balfe shared her thoughts on the matter, Heughan jumped in by saying, “Yeah, we could try.”

However, Heughan was quick to backtrack on his comments and echoed some of Balfe’s sentiments on the matter. Like Balfe, Heughan believes that fans desperately want him and Balfe together because they are so attached to their characters.

“No, I think it’s strange, isn’t it?” he stated. “Because I think people buy into the show and us saying it’s not real, they feel like they’ve been duped. It’s like, ‘You acted it. You lied to us!’ And I’m like, ‘Well, sorry!'”

At this point, it is hard to tell whether or not Heughan and Balfe will eventually get together in real life. If their work on the show is the only thing that is holding them back, then perhaps someday they will take their relationship to the next level.

The highly anticipated the second season of Outlander is scheduled to air on April 9 on Starz.
