‘RHOBH’ Star Yolanda Foster — The Real Reason She Is Changing Her Name Back To Hadid
Yolanda Foster has gone through some big changes in her life over the past year. In addition to her recent divorce from David Foster, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is gearing up for another change, only this time a little less dramatic.
According to People, the reality star has changed her last name from Foster back to Hadid, the surname of her former husband, Mohamed. Although the change will not become official until the divorce is finalized, Yolanda has already made the change in her personal and professional lives.
During an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Yolanda discussed her decision to revert back to her old name. The main motivation behind her choice for a name change had to do with her children, all of whom go by the name Hadid.
“I talked about it with my kids. I never dropped the name Hadid because I have three children with that last name, and I asked should I go back to van den Herik,” she explained to Cohen. “And they said, ‘No, you’re our mommy, and we have the same last name.'”
Yolanda and Mohamed were married for six years during the late 1990s. The couple had three children together, Gigi (20), Bella (19), and Anwar (16). Although they are still separated, Mohamed remains active in their children’s lives.
As far as her relationship with David goes, the two surprisingly announced their divorce this past year after four years of marriage.Meanwhile, Radar Online is reporting that Yolanda’s decision to change her name was an easy one to make. In fact, an inside source told the outlet that the father of her children was completely fine with her name change, despite their divorce in 2000.
“It was very easy for Yolanda to make the decision to change her name back to Hadid. She wants to have the same last name as her three kids, Bella, Gigi, and Anwar,” the insider revealed. “He [Mohamed] didn’t need to give his blessing, but out of respect for their relationship did so, and he had no issue with it.”
Yolanda Foster’s (Hadid) newest life change comes on the heels of her own controversy with Lyme disease. According to Page Six, Yolanda addressed the issues surrounding her battle with the disease with Cohen, and specifically talked about the rumors that she has Munchausen syndrome.
“Are you going to listen to what the hairdresser says? If you’re my friend, you should go to the hairdresser going, ‘Are you crazy?'” Yolanda stated.
For those unaware, several cast members of the show, including Lisa Rinna, have expressed the notion that Yolanda is suffering from Munchausen syndrome instead of Lyme disease. Munchausen syndrome is a mental disorder where a person fakes an illness for reasons of personal gain and attention.
However, Yolanda was quick to come to her own defense and pointed out that some of the women on the show are having difficulty understanding the true nature of Lyme disease. According to Yolanda, this is something that people with Lyme disease encounter all the time.“There’s such ignorance when it comes to invisible disease and millions of people are suffering with those problems with family members, friends, and people out in the world judging them by the way they look,” she explained.
As Yolanda continues her treatment for Lyme disease, she was also asked whether or not she has re-entered the dating world yet. In reply, Yolanda admitted that she isn’t quite ready for the dating game just yet.
“I haven’t tried it yet,” she shared. “I’m still at home trying to get well.”
