‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Ambushed By WWE Rival Stardust At Comic-Con Panel — Preview Of Their Rematch At WrestleMania 32?
During a Q&A at Comic Con, Stephen Amell (Arrow) was ambushed by none other than his WWE rival, Stardust.
Stardust came bursting into the room, where he was greeted with loud cheers and a standing ovation from fans and quickly headed to the table where he met face to face with the Arrow star.
As fans know, Amell and Stardust have already met once in the square circle. It was during SummerSlam 2015 when Amell made his WWE debut, reports Zap2it.
During the tag-team match, where Amell and WWE’s Neville were pitted against Stardust and King Barrett, Amell impressed fans with his in-ring abilities and willingness to tango inside.
But as Amell and Neville walked away with the victory, Stardust said that beating him in a tag team match isn’t really beating him and the idea of Amell and Stardust performing a one on one in the ring came up shortly after SummerSlam.
But the two have yet to do a singles match, and now with the WWE’s biggest PPV right around the corner, it would appear likely that they are destined for WrestleMania 32, which happens to be in Dallas, Texas, the same place where Amell was recently ambushed by Stardust, according to What Culture.
But Stardust wasn’t alone during his Comic-Con take over. The WWE star also brought along his wife, and WWE announcer Eden, to deliver Amell’s long lost Slammy Award, which Amell won for his “Celebrity Moment of the Year” for his work in SummerSlam. Stardust stole the trophy when Amell wasn’t able to show up to receive it.
During Comic-Con, Eden and Stardust presented the trophy along with taking over answering questions and insulting the audience. After a few minutes passed by, Stardust finally got around to what fans have been wanting ever since the end of SummerSlam, challenging Amell to a rematch, but this time, Stardust had no plans for another tag team match but instead wants a singles match with only him and Stephen in the ring.
According to Hidden Remote, Stardust showed up with the trophy to agree on what to do with it. Stephen Amell decided to raffle off the award, which he and Stardust both signed to help raise money for kids with cancer.
Although the pair agreed to raise money by raffling off the trophy, they still remain enemies. Before Stardust left the Q&A, he made sure that everyone knew that by tossing a glass full of water in Amell’s face. And according to Zap2it, Eden followed her husband’s example by tossing her own glass of water in the Arrow star’s face.
Despite the stage being set for a rematch, when that will occur remains a mystery. Some speculate the previously mentioned WrestleMania event, but with Amell currently in the middle of filming Season 4 of Arrow and is about to take part in an upcoming promotional piece for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows—where he plays Casey Jones, it could mean another project for Amell is asking too much.
However, with the Ninja Turtles being released in June, it’s entirely plausible a small WWE run could be a part of the movie’s promotional push. And given the fact that WrestleMania hits Dallas in April, perhaps that is when the rematch will take place.
But if not, Amell and Stardust could also face off in this year’s SummerSlam in New York.
For fans and everyone else involved it doesn’t really matter when or where the rematch takes place, it’s obviously reached personal levels with the whole water in the face stunt and will be quite the show when it does actually happen. Perhaps Amell will walk away with another Slammy Award, but this time maybe this time he’ll show up to claim it.
