Why I Applaud Taylor Swift’s Acceptance Speech At The 2016 Grammys [Video]
Taylor Swift took aim at Kanye West during her acceptance speech at the 2016 Grammy’s, and I loved every second of it. Let me preface this by saying I do like Kanye West despite all the negative media attention, and I didn’t like Taylor Swift very much before last night. But maybe things have changed for me.

Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech was nothing short of a breath of fresh air. Finally, the girl stood up for herself against a man that had been ruining moments for her for quite some time. Taylor Swift and Kanye West go all the way back to when he interrupted her at the 2009 MTV VMAs. The internet never forgot.
Neither did Kanye, because he recently dropped a track on his newest project, The Life of Pablo, about Taylor Swift. “Famous” is the name of it, and he mentions that he made the popular singer famous by interrupting her while she was accepting an award at the VMAs.
Wouldn’t she already be pretty popular if she was accepting an award?

That doesn’t matter, because she was accepting awards all night at the 2016 Grammys. Taylor Swift received three awards last night, Fox News reports, one for Best Music Video, Best Pop Album, and Album of The Year.
I didn’t pay much attention to what she won for, but I did pay attention to what she said in her acceptance speech for Album of the Year.
The New York Daily News reports that Swift took the stage to make indirect jabs at Kanye West.
She said, “As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young woman out there: There will be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments, your fame.”
That last part is clearly an allusion to Kanye West’s “Famous.”
“But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get to where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know it was you, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world,” she concluded.
Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech ended right there, and so did my general distaste for the pop singer. I always thought she was a little stuck-up and immature. I mean, who else would put past lovers on blast all over the radio? But her message to young women all over the world is something we can all get behind, and I also loved it that she stuck it to Kanye. Truthfully, he needed it.
There’s no telling whether Taylor can give Kanye another shot. It seemed like last year they buried the hatchet, when West gifted Swift a beautiful collection of flowers.
Apparently, the “Famous” rapper wasn’t done going at Taylor Swift just yet. Anyway, Taylor got the last laugh with her acceptance speech, and now she has three more Grammy awards to add to her collection.
