‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers — Is Tyrion Lannister Set To Die? New Promo Teases He Will Join Jon Snow In Death
While the fate of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in the sixth season of Game of Thrones is still up in the air, there may be another surprising end to one of the most beloved characters on the show. In a recent promo trailer, fans were given a tour of the Hall of Faces. While a number of slain characters were included amongst the dead and creepy faces, the teaser revealed that Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) may be next in line.
According to Daily Mail, the new trailer starts off in the Hall of Faces under the House of Black and White. The Hall of Faces was featured in season five when Jaqen H’ghar led Arya Stark to the location. The Hall houses the heads of those who have died and serve as the Faceless Men’s camouflage.
The first head shown in the clip is that of Ned Stark (Sean Bean), who died back in season one. “The man who passed the sentence should swing the sword,” Ned is heard saying. The camera then pans to the head of Robb Stark (Richard Madden) who met his own end in season three. “I’ve won every battle, but I’m losing this war,” he states.
The image of Robb’s mother, Catelyn (Michelle Fairley), is shown next. Catelyn was killed right after her son’s wedding in season three. “Show them how it feels to lose what they love,” she says.
Following Catelyn’s head, the main nemesis of the Stark family, Joffrey Baratheon is up next. Joffrey was poisoned during his own wedding and remains true to his evil self even after death. “Everyone is mine to torment,” he shared.
From here, things start to turn for the worse as the head of Jon Snow is shown. Jon’s death at the end of season five was among the most shocking to date on the series, with many fans unable to believe that he is truly dead. “The long night is coming,” Jon states.
While Jon’s inclusion in the hall of faces is disturbing, the camera then moves on to show the face of one Tyrion Lannister, with Jon’s voice continuing: “… and the dead come with it.”
Clearly, this isn’t good news for either character. If only the dead are featured in the Hall of Faces, then it is logical to assume that both Jon and Tyrion were dead at the time of the scene. However, according to Bustle, this could just be a clever ploy to throw fans off the trail.
After all, anything is possible in the Game of Thrones’ world, and a resurrection or two is definitely not out of the question. Even still, the sight of Jon’s face in the hall does not bode well for his comeback in season six.As far as Tyrion is concerned, it is interesting that his voice is not included in the trailer. Does this mean that his face is in the fall for an entirely different reason? Perhaps this is some kind of flashback scene?
Unfortunately, George R.R. Martin has offered little to no hope with regard to the fate of his characters in the series. In fact, according to News Week, Martin’s recent message on Twitter was more than discouraging for fans who are hoping for a Jon Snow return in season six.
“What part of ‘All men must die’ don’t you people understand?” Martin wrote.
While it should not come as a surprise to fans, it now appears as though none of the characters on the show are safe, including Tyrion.
