Kate Beckinsale Admits She Didn’t Feel Truly Attractive Until Age 29
Although Kate Beckinsale is quite easily one of the most beautiful women on the planet, the demure screen siren admitted in a recent interview that she didn’t really feel all that confident in her own skin until she was just shy of age 30.
“Feeling attractive didn’t come until I was 29 and with Len (Wiseman, her husband of nearly eight years),” she said in an interview with Allure, reports NY Daily. “At the time it was partly perceived as if I’d gone all Hollywood, but it wasn’t like that at all. It was just okay for me to walk around and feel feminine and attractive. I like feeling liberated like this.”
That was just under a decade ago. The now-38-year-old Beckinsale doesn’t look her age, and jokingly admits that she’s been blessed so far “I haven’t suddenly gained 20 pounds that won’t go away, or (grown) a beard.”
Either way, Beckinsale was voted Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive in 2009, an honor she’s hesitant to accept, reports OTRC:
“It kind of exploded, and all of a sudden I was the sexiest woman alive,” Beckinsale said. “I think the risk of being the sexiest woman alive is that you don’t want to ever have sex again. You don’t want to wear a bikini again. You want to wear some nice overalls and a trucker’s hat. Anyway, you’re only that for a year, and then you’re done. You’re old news. I don’t know who it is right now, but it’s not me.”
Beckinsale also talked a bit about her role in the upcoming Total Recall remake. According to the Examiner, her experience on the set was quite humbling.
“On the first day, they took me out and said, ‘We just want to kind of get a sense of where you’re at. So let’s just see how you run.’ They had me run across the parking lot,” she recounts. “I ran like a girl, with my arms up, so that had to be knocked out of me. Then it was, ‘All right, let’s see you throw a punch.’ I did, and therefore earned myself a couple months of boxing training.”
Despite Hollywood’s obsession with getting older, the ageless Beckinsale feel fairly at-east about it. “It all just unfolds and I think, well, that’s who I am now,” she says.
