George Zimmerman Gives First Interview To Fox News Tonight
George Zimmerman is scheduled to make an appearance on the Fox News program Hannity tonight to be interviewed by host Sean Hannity in the former’s first major media interview.
Zimmerman, who is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin will be interviewed by Hannity for the entirety of his hour-long program, reports CBS. According to a Fox News statement, “Zimmerman will open up about what happened the night of Trayvon Martin’s death and his experience in the aftermath of the fatal shooting.” Zimmerman, of course, maintains his innocence, claiming that he shot Martin in self-defense. “Additionally, Zimmerman’s defense attorney Mark O’Mara will answer questions regarding his client’s case and rumors circulating about the bail donations and hidden money.”
Zimmerman’s appearance on Hannity’s program comes as a bit of an ironic surprise, as online rumors have suggested the Fox host has offered to cover Zimmerman’s legal fees in the case, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Of course, Fox News has denied these claims, insisting: “Sean Hannity has never offered to pay any legal fees or any fee associated with George Zimmerman.”
Tonight’s interview doesn’t mark the first time Hannity and Zimmerman have talked. The two shared an off-the-record conversation by phone back in April, resulting in the ultimate withdrawal of Zimmerman’s original defense team, who harshly disapproved of the informal chat.
