Michelle Obama And Barack Exchange Steamy Valentine’s Day Poems On ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’

Barack and Michelle Obama traded a few steamy Valentine’s Day words on The Ellen DeGeneres Show a few days ago. While it wasn’t actually Valentine’s Day, Obama got a surprise from first lady Michelle Obama while he was being interviewed by Ellen, so it was only natural for The President to return the favor–and return he did.

Fortune reports that in the video, Michelle Obama said “Surprise! Hi honey, and hi Barack! I wanted to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day. It’s the last one we’re going to spend in the White House and in honor of that, I wrote you a little Valentine’s Day poem that I wanted to share.”

Something funny that got lost in the surprise was the fact that Michelle Obama actually called Ellen “honey,” and her husband “Barack.”

“Roses are red, violets are blue, you are the President, and I am your boo,” She began. “I wrote that while I was doing 100 push ups this morning, it gets the creative juices flowing. You should try it, Ellen,” Michelle Obama continued.

“You’re the only person I’d share my husband with on Valentine’s Day. Happy Valentine’s Day to you, and Porsche, and Happy Valentines Day to everyone.”

Barack Obama and Ellen decided to throw it right back at Michelle with their own segment airing live. Speaking of his words for Michelle on Valentine’s Day, Obama said “I was going to deliver it in person, but we can do it on the set.”

Ellen and Obama then walked over to a pre-made set complete with roses for Obama’s Valentine’s Day poem to Michelle. “Somebody call the situation room, because things are about to get hot. Michelle, this Valentine’s Day I’m going to treat you right. I’m going to make you some Zucchini Bread, and then I’ll spread out some veggies on a plate, just the way you like it.”

Michelle Obama is very adamant about being healthy, so that’s why Obama mentioned that in his Valentine’s Day poem.

“Then I’m going to give you a massage while you watch Ellen’s Design Challenge on HGTV,” Obama continued, Ellen clearly shamelessly plugging in her show to the President’s poem.

And then came the line of the evening.

“Because I love you so much, I Obamacare about you more than you even know!”

After Barack got hot and heavy, he straightened up for a heartfelt message to his wife Michelle Obama.

“But, Michelle, I’ve made a lot of great decisions as President, and the best decision I ever made was choosing you. Thanks for putting up with me, I love you, and Ellen, Happy Valentine’s Day.”

It made for great television, and The New York Times reports that Barack Obama hadn’t been on the Ellen Degeneres Show since 2007, when he was a long-shot candidate for the White House.

While Obama was there, Ellen got to tell The President, “I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for the gay community.”

“It’s one of the things I’m proudest of. Because, my whole political career has been based on the idea that we constantly want to include people and not exclude them,” the President said.

What the President says after that can get glimpsed in the video above. We can only hope Barack and Michelle Obama have a Happy Valentine’s Day.
