‘Grimm’ Stars Host The Second ‘Grimm Gala’ Fundraiser, Offering Fans A Chance To Become A Wesen
The full cast of Grimm actors are coming together again in their second annual Grimm Gala, which offers fans the chance to win roles on the series and to become their favorite wesen characters. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, February 13, at the Exchange Ballroom. Last year, the fundraising event earned $300,000 for the Grimmster Endowment, an organization that helps to cover costs not ordinarily covered by health insurance, such as travel and lodging expenses for the families of patients at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.
Grimm‘s Sasha Roiz On The Important Work Of The Grimm Gala And How It Can Help Fans Become Their Favorite Wesen
Much like his Grimm character, Captain Sean Renard, Roiz is eager to lend a hand, particularly when it comes to causes close to his own heart, which is what led the actor to organize the Grimmster Endowment last year. His visits to Doernbecher hospital opened his eyes to the need for the kinds of benefits the Grimmster Endowment could provide, so Sasha recruited his Grimm co-stars to help with the cause. Now in its second year, Roiz says he’s happy to be back working with his Grimm friends on such an important project.
The actor says this year’s Grimm Gala has been an even bigger success than last year’s event.
“We didn’t even have to publicize the event this year. People came to us months ago, and sponsored tables. We’re sold out.”
The cast of Grimm isn’t alone. The event has been underwritten by NBC Universal and Comcast, adding that much more support to the community driven fundraiser. Nike has also returned to support the cause, offering up a pair of special Grimm Nike shoes, which will be auctioned off at the event. Many other companies are also donating services and products in an effort to raise funds for the Grimmster Endowment.
Sasha predicts this year’s Grimm Gala will surpass the $300,000 that had been raised during last year’s event.
“It’s going to be such a magical night,” Sasha Roiz says. “I’m always very grateful for the support this community shows us.”
The Mysteries Of Bitsie Tulloch Unraveled
Last season of Grimm ended in a way that left fans mourning the loss of Juliette Silverton and fearing that Bitsie Tulloch would not return, but, as the second half of season 5 picked up, it was revealed that those fears were all for naught. Juliette may be gone, but Bitsie is still with us under a new guise. Returning as the seemingly invincible superhero Eve, Tulloch is as much a mystery off screen as she has been in her new Grimm incarnation.
For those wanting to know more about the actress, there are many unique things about Ms. Tulloch to be revealed. For instance, the Grimm actress’ real name is Elizabeth, but she earned the nickname Bitsie in honor of her grandfather, a WWII pilot and a highly admired member of the family. Bitsie is highly educated, having pursued her degrees in English and American Literature, as well as Visual and Environmental Studies from Harvard, before having been bitten by the acting bug. Unlike other actors, Ms. Tulloch wanted to have other opportunities to fall back on, in case acting didn’t work out for her.
As far as her love life is concerned, this is one instance of life imitating art. Tulloch has been involved with co-star and her former on-screen boyfriend, David Giuntoli. The couple keeps things private, so it’s not known how serious things are or if they plan on taking their relationship to the next level, but, as they have been together for some time, it seems they’re quite happy together.
Grimm airs Fridays on NBC.
