Priscilla Presley, Elvis’ Wife, Talks About New Album, Son Navarone, And Elvis Presley’s Graceland Hotel

Elvis’ wife Priscilla Presley is still building the musical empire started by the King of Rock and Roll. One of the newest projects is the Elvis Presley’s Graceland hotel, called The Guest House at Graceland. In recent times, Priscilla also spoke about her son Navarone and the new album from his band Them Guns. She has also been answering questions from Elvis fans about various aspects of Elvis history.

Back in November, Priscilla revealed the grand opening date for the Graceland hotel is set for October 2016. The $70 million project will provide 450 rooms for guests to stay in. Reservations are already being taken, and Elvis Presley fans are sure to fill up all the available slots.

Joel Weinshanker, the managing partner of Graceland LLC, explained the goal of the design decisions for Graceland’s hotel asked, “What would Elvis want?”

“The Guest House at Graceland will be an extraordinary ‘home away from home’ for music fans, Graceland guests and Memphis visitors from around the world,” said Weinshanker. “We’re pleased to be taking reservations now and look forward to providing an unprecedented visitor experience, starting with our incredible opening celebration in October 2016. The Guest House will bring guests closer to Graceland than ever before and offer the same warmth and southern hospitality that Elvis was known and loved for.”

Priscilla Presley is supervising the designs directly, and she explained the idea behind The Guest House at Graceland referred back to how Elvis to accept guests.

“When Elvis had friends and family visit Graceland, he would have them stay at a hotel nearby. He would have been thrilled to have had his own hotel where they could stay,” stated Priscilla. “Lisa and I, and our entire family, are excited that visitors from around the world will soon get to experience our unique resort hotel — The Guest House at Graceland.”

Guests hoping to stumble into Priscilla may be slighting disappointed, though. A fan asked her if she slept at Graceland when visiting, but it turns out the Elvis family considers this idea impractical.

“No I don’t,” she replied. “Graceland is open to the public. Tours begin early morning. It wouldn’t really be very practical to sleep there. Whenever I’m there though, I do go after hours, as does the family.”

It’s not that she is trying to avoid the public, since she spoke about enjoying time with fans between her own performances.

“I try to meet fans when I can,” she said. “Between attempting to have lunch between shows and meeting guests… the time is limited. The same after the shows. Many guests and friends come by to visit and I’d like to spend some time with them, as well.”

Still, if you are hoping to see her in person, mark Elvis Week 2016 on your calendar for August 10, since she says it’s “possible” she will be in Graceland during that time. Otherwise, she recently noted how Elvis’ favorite holiday was Christmas, but the last time the Presley family celebrated Christmas at Graceland was several years ago.

Elvis’ New Album

Fans also asked if a second volume from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra would be released sometime next year, but Priscilla Presley believes it may be a while before a new Elvis album comes out.

“Maybe not next year. We believe the album will still have life throughout the year,” she explained. “The album has gone triple platinum in only 8 weeks and at this time still claims number 2 on the charts just behind Adele. It has been overwhelming successful. It gives me such satisfaction that Elvis is still appreciated not just with fans but with newcomers who now realize the magic of the man… who touched us all.”

She also revealed that there are “talks” about having tour dates with Philharmonic Orchestra with the new album, but it seems so far nothing has been set for certain.
