‘Deadpool’ After-Credits Scene: Major Spoiler About X-Men Universe Hidden After The ‘Deadpool’ Credits
Deadpool has an after-credits scene that reveals a major spoiler about the future of the franchise and the X-Men universe, so moviegoers have a good incentive to stay in their seats until the very end.
[WARNING: Major Deadpool spoilers ahead, not necessarily for the current movie but for the future of the franchise.]
The R-rated superhero movie is set to hit theaters on Friday and has already been getting strong reviews both from critics and fans who have attended early screenings. In the initial press junkets, it was revealed that Deadpool will indeed have an after-credits scene, but Screen Rant reported that there is actually a second, top-secret post-credits scene in Deadpool.
The report noted that the second scene was intentionally kept out of the movie that was shown to critics.
“It’s a wonderful bonus for fans already planning to see the film that there’s still something in it they can experience first with everyone else, something that hasn’t at all been spoiled yet. We only found out about it this weekend thanks to Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld and Deadpool movie co-writer Rhett Reese.”

The actual contents of the post-credits scene in Deadpool have leaked ahead of the movie, pointing to a major spoiler for the X-Men universe.
Slash Film reported that the initial after-credits scene was something of a comedic homage to Ferris Bueller‘s famous post-credits scene, but the one kept hidden from the press was much more revealing.
“The first Deadpool post-credits scene takes the form of a Ferris Bueller parody. Deadpool, sporting a striped bathrobe, makes a snarky reference to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s habit of setting up future films in the credits: ‘What were you expecting? Sam Jackson in an eyepatch?’ And then the second Deadpool post-credits scene, according to ScreenCrush, proceeds to take a page out of the MCU playbook by… setting up future films in the credits.”
The spoiler reportedly shows Deadpool talking directly to the audience, saying, “Oh, I can tell you one thing, but it’s a bit of a secret.”
That secret is reportedly the inclusion of the villain Cable in the Deadpool sequel, something that had already been heavily hinted toward.
In an interview last year, director Tim Miller disappointed fans by informing them that Cable was not in February’s film but then all-but-guaranteed that the villain would be in the sequel.
“There aren’t really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable,” he said. “If we don’t put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think we’ll be run out of town on a rail.”
This would be Cable’s first inclusion into the X-Men universe, theoretically opening the door for inclusion in other movies outside of the Deadpool series.
There is already a lot of interest in Deadpool, which received a coveted and hard-to-achieve “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is projected to win the President’s Day weekend with somewhere between $55 million and $60 million.

If the Deadpool after-credits scene is indeed a sign of things to come, then there could be a lot of chances for fans to see Cable beyond the Deadpool series itself. There are a number of new X-Men movies due out within the next few years, including X-Men: Apocalypse this May, Gambit and Wolverine in 2017, and an unnamed X-Men movie set to come out in 2018.
