Ian Somerhalder Putting Nina Dobrev Reunion Rumors To Rest With Talk Of A Baby With Nikki Reed

Ian Somerhalder’s desire to have children has long plagued The Vampire Diaries star. Along with being the source of discontent in his relationship with Nina Dobrev, the family rumors have haunted his current marriage with Nikki Reed. However, Somerhalder has finally broken his silence on the matter and addressed the rumors of a future child.

In an interview with ET Online, Somerhalder was asked about his plans to start a family with Reed. When asked if he and Reed are currently trying to have a baby, Somerhalder revealed that they are “absolutely” planning on having a child.

“Well, you know, those are the coolest little things in the world,” Somerhalder stated, adding that fans should “standby” for more information on the baby front.

According to Life & Style Mag, Somerhalder’s recent comments follow rumors that he and Reed were on the brink of a divorce over Somerhalder’s desire to have children. Despite the rumors, it appears as though Reed is more than willingly to set aside her acting career in order to start a family with Somerhalder.

At the same time, Somerhalder’s comments did not come as a huge surprise to those who have followed the actor in recent months. According to Parent Herald, Somerhalder previously expressed his desire to have children with Reed, and was very excited about the notion of being a father.

“It’s the most incredible thing to be happy and secure in something… It’s a pretty crazy time and place to bring a child into this turbulent and insane world — but I really can’t wait to do it and really just love it.”

Clearly, Somerhalder’s relationship with Reed is not on the rocks. The only real questions remaining are when the couple will eventually have the baby and how their new child will impact their busy work schedules.

Meanwhile, there still exists a desire amongst fans to see Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev together once again. Although Dobrev and Somerhalder may never come together in real life, Christian Post is reporting that there is a possibility that the two might reunite on The Vampire Diaries.

Dobrev departed the hit series at the end of the last season in order to pursue other projects. However, executive producer Caroline Dries recently told Collider that there are plans to include Dobrev in the series finale. Admittedly, the series is not expected to end any time soon, but her comments definitely open the door for a future cameo by Dobrev.

“I would say that, if The CW called today and was like, ‘By the way, Season 7 is the last season,’ then I think we would scramble to make sure that she was in the finale… But as of right now, we’re acting like the show will go on, so no.”

Considering how Somerhalder’s marriage with Reed is going stronger than ever, fans are not likely to see Dobrev and Somerhalder together again in real life. This is especially true if the couple has a child together. Not only would a baby solidify their commitment for each other, but it would also be another addition to their already large family of pets, including four dogs, two horses, and three cats.

“I’m going to be editing my episode all night, and that’s just kind of my main focus right now. Other than that, I’m just hanging with my wife and my babies — our babies, all these furry creatures that we have…”

Until further details about Somerhalder’s baby is released, fans can watch the actor as the seventh season of The Vampire Diaries continues Friday nights on The CW.
