Hall & Oates? Announce 2016 Summer Tour

Daryl Hall and John Oates, otherwise known as Hall & Oates, are going to give their fans something they’ve probably wanted for years: a big Hall & Oates summer tour this May, reports Rolling Stone. However, Hall & Oates won’t be alone for the entire duration of the tour. On September 14, the rock duo will be joined by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, in Phoenix.

Daryl Hall & John Oates got the help of some close friends to deliver the news. Soft-rock group the Blue Jean Committee, which consists of Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, announced the Hall & Oates summer tour in a special, humorous video and talked about their history touring with the Philadelphia band, as well.

“What do you think of when you think of the Seventies? When you think of beautiful harmonies, you think of a duo who sing together to make hit songs. You think of the Blue Jean Committee and that’s who we are,” Armisen, as Gene Allen, says to the camera.

Hader’s Clark Honus adds, “Who you think of fifth, or maybe eighth, is Daryl Hall and John Oates. You know who used to open for us? Who we used to kick around? Daryl Hall and John Oates!”

Allen and Honus go on to talk a bit of trash about Hall & Oates while also claiming that Daryl and John left them behind.

“The minute they hit it big, they just left us in the dust,” Honus says. “They don’t really talk to us anymore. That was a real Philly thing to do.”

Tickets for the Hall & Oates summer tour go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 12, at livenation.com. Anybody who has a Live Nation mobile app will have access to a password-free pre-sale that will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10.

Hall & Oates? are the second biggest best-selling duo of all time, with an estimated 40 million records sold throughout their careers. The duo have 18 albums together and are most well-known for hits like “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do),” “Maneater,” “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “Rich Girl,” “Out of Touch,” and “You Make My Dreams.” Both Daryl Hall and John Oates were born in Philadelphia in the 1940s, and they first met one another at the Adelphi Ballroom in Philadelphia in 1967. They were each in their own band at the time – Hall with The Temptones and Oates with The Masters. Gunfire between two rival gangs at the Adelphi Ballroom broke out, and while running away, Hall and Oates both made it to the same service elevator. On top of that, they were both students at Philadelphia’s Temple University. Ever since then, the two have been close.

Whole Oats was the name of their debut album, in 1972 on Atlantic Records, with their most recent project being a Christmas album, Home for Christmas, in 2006.
