Blake Shelton Recruits The Oak Ridge Boys For New Album, Will He Record With Gwen Stefani Too?

Blake Shelton is getting ready for the release of his first album since his 2014 offering, Bringing Back the Sunshine. While Shelton prepares to iron out the final details of the album, it appears as though he has enlisted the help of the Oak Ridge Boys to add a final touch to the project. Will he do the same with his newest love, Gwen Stefani?

Rolling Stone is reporting that Shelton actually brought in the Oak Ridge Boys at the beginning of February in order to lay down a few tracks for the album. Following their recording session, Shelton took to Twitter to express his thanks for the group’s help on his album.

“Tonight was literally magic,” Shelton wrote in his post, which included a photograph of him posing alongside the Oak Ridge Boys. “What an honor. So excited about my album!”

Following the release of his new album, Shelton is planning on doing a tour that will star in Cincinnati on February 18. Additional touring locations include Nashville and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Chris Janson is expected to open for Shelton as he makes his way around the country.

At the same time, the Oak Ridge Boys also expressed their excitement about Shelton’s album on social media.

In particular, Duane Allen posted an image of the group hanging out with Shelton on Twitter with the caption, “IT WAS PARTY TIME WITH BLAKE WHEN WE RECORDED WITH HIM THIS WEEK. WOW!!!”

Meanwhile, according to Just Jared, Shelton and Stefani were recently spotted outside of a music studio in Los Angeles last week. Shelton wore his usual flannel button up shirt with a baseball cap while Stefani was seen sporting a black hat with a dark sweatshirt and plaid shorts.

Although the exact nature of their visit to the studio is unknown, the sighting was quick to spark speculation of a joint album. That being said, neither Shelton nor Stefani have directly addressed the rumors of a potential collaboration, leaving open the possibility of one in the future.

While the two Voice judges have been quiet about a potential album collaboration, Shelton recently opened up about his future album in an interview with Country Countdown USA. In speaking to the outlet, Blake Shelton explained some of the inspirations behind his newest project and how the end of last year was the best he’s ever experienced.

“I’ve written more than I’ve written in 15 years, for obvious reasons — all the awful things that have happened in my personal life — but the way the year ended is also the greatest of my life,” he shared. “I want to get it out there. It’s driving me nuts to not be already into that project because it’s all I’m thinking about.”

Of course, Shelton was referring to his divorce from Miranda Lambert this past summer and his subsequent relationship with Stefani. Considering how influential Stefani has been to his creative process, is it possible that she’ll make a cameo on the album?

“I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, and that’s put all I’ve gone through and put it into music, and I never felt more connected to a record before,” Shelton continued in the interview. “When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about it. And that’s exciting for me, to just lay it out there for people.”

It isn’t known if Stefani will sing on the album or not, but it is clear that at least some of the songs on the album are going to be related to her. Whether or not this will satisfy fans is still to be determined.
