Matt Damon Returns: Jason Bourne Is Back [Movie Trailer]
Matt Damon has returned from Mars (The Martian), and now Jason Bourne is back for more action and adventure.
The first movie trailer for Jason Bourne, the fifth film in the Bourne series, was released during the Superbowl yesterday. The name of the title was not known prior to the release of the trailer.
The opening scene gave us a quick glimpse of a buff Matt Damon in a fist fight with a big brute. We see Damon riding a motorcycle, complete with an automatic weapon, a lot of smashed up cars, and grim looks on Matt Damon’s face.
We also get to hear some quotes from the movie script, although it is not always quite clear who is speaking.
“My God. That is Jason Bourne,” someone says.
“Why would he come back now?” another asks.
“I know who I am. I remember everything,” says Jason Bourne.
“Remembering everything doesn’t mean you know everything. The world is at war. We need the perfect weapon.”
Fans of the movie series are excited to have Jason Bourne back, especially with Matt Damon reprising the role. He has been hinting that he was done with the series for a while now.
According to Wikipedia, in 2007, before the release of The Bourne Ultimatum, Damon said he was not interested in returning for a fourth film, saying, “We have ridden that horse as far as we can.”
The next year, it was reported that a fourth installment was indeed in the works. In 2010, Matt Damon said that the next film release would be at least five years away. He hinted that there may be a prequel released, featuring a different actor and director.
In mid-2010, an announcement was made that the fourth movie, The Bourne Legacy, would be released in 2012, but it would have a new director and a new actor for a new hero.
The film was released in August 2012, starring Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross. Renner is not in Jason Bourne, but he will probably be in the next film for his sequel. It is targeted for release between 2018 and 2020, reports IMDb.

In December of that year, Damon said he and the original director, Paul Greengrass, were both interested in returning for the fifth installment of the film. In September 2014, it was announced that the duo would indeed be returning.
Last year, co-star Alicia Vikander joined the cast. Matt Damon spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her.
“You have to do something great and new, and Alicia is our great and new. She plays a new character we’re introducing, and she’s a specialist in cyber. Instead of just the three arenas of warfare — air, land and sea — there’s now this fourth element: cyber. The implications of that are huge, and she’s representing that in the movie.”
Julia Stiles agreed to continue to play Nicky Parsons, and Tommy Lee Jones signed on as a CIA officer. Although Viggo Mortenson was originally in talks to portray the assassin villain, that role eventually went to Vincent Cassel.
