‘Me Before You’: Emilia Clarke & Sam Claflin [Movie Trailer]
The highly anticipated movie trailer for Me Before You, starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin, has been released.
Me Before You is based on the book of the same title written by Jojo Moyes. A New York Times bestseller, the story is a tragic love tale of a disabled young man and the girl who comes to care for him.
Will Traynor is a wealthy young man prone to risk-taking when he suffers a motorcycle accident, becoming a paraplegic. Confined to a wheelchair, he loses his desire to live, becoming depressed and surly. He promises his parents that he would wait six months before committing suicide, reports Variety.
Desperate, his parents hire Louisa Clark (Lou), a British small-town girl, to take care of him. Lou supports her family through her work and had just lost her job at a cafe. Although not trained in care-taking, she was happy to take on the new opportunity to work.
“Do you have any experience care-giving?” asks Will’s mother.
“Um, I’ve never done it, but I’m sure I can learn,” responds Lou.
But Will and Louisa don’t get along too well at first.
“He hates me,” complains Lou. “Every time I speak he looks at me like I’m stupid.”
“To be fair, you are pretty stupid,” says her sister.
“Yeah, but he doesn’t know that yet.”

Eventually, Will begins to appreciate Lou’s bright, colorful world, and the two finally fall in love.
The director of the film, Thea Sharrock, notes that the film captures the tone of Moyes’ book. It helped that Jojo Moyes also wrote the screenplay and remained a fixture on the movie set.
Me Before You: A Star Cast
The film has a star-studded cast with Emilia Clarke from the hit television series Game of Thrones playing the leading lady, Lou. You might know her as Daenerys Targaryen from the series.
Clarke told USA Today she was more similar to Louisa than than Daenerys. She claims she is much more like the “goofy, regular-girl Louisa” that you see in trailer.
She was filming Terminator Genisys, in the role of Sarah Connor, when she first read Me Before You.
“It’s funny with these strong female roles. I’m really quite clumsy, say the wrong thing all the time and am awkward at the best of times. My friends and family have seen this other person every single day.”
Will Traynor is portrayed by Sam Claflin. Claflin also starred in The Hunger Games as Finnick Odair, reports IMDb.
Lou’s sister, Katrina, is played by Jenna Coleman. Jenna is also known for her role as Clara Oswold, the “impossible girl” from Dr. Who.
Patrick (Lou’s long-time boyfriend) is played by Matthew Lewis. You might remember him as Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter movie series.
Charles Dance portrays Will’s father, Steven Traynor. Dance is an actor and director known for Games of Thrones, Last Action Hero, Alien3, and The Imitation Game.
Will’s mother, Camilla Traynor, is played by actress, writer, and producer Janet McTeer. Janet is known for her role as Commander Kim Guziewica in the television series Battle Creek.
