Melissa McCarthy Claims She Didn’t Get Invite To ‘Gilmore Girls’ Reboot On Netflix
What would Gilmore Girls be without Sookie? It is hard to image that the cast was assembled for the Netflix Gilmore Girls reboot, and nobody asked Melissa McCarthy, but she insists she was not invited to come back. But the rest of the cast is returning, so who forgot to call McCarthy?
According to the Inquisitr, the Gilmore Girls reboot is officially a go, and fans and the cast are really excited to be back in Stars Hollow. Most importantly, Amy Sherman-Palladino is back at the helm to write the story of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. The plan for now is to do four 90 minute mini movies for Netflix.

Vanity Fair is reporting that Melissa McCarthy is certain that she was not asked to the reunion of Gilmore Girls.
“Thanks for the invite,” McCarthy wrote in response to one fan’s plea to return for the four-part reunion. “[B]ut sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!”
Yikes. It sounds like someone dropped the ball. But creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is certain that she had been in contact with McCarthy’s camp.
“She’s really f***ing busy… But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene.’ ”
Sherman-Palladino says that he offer is sincere, and she will do whatever is needed to get McCarthy to the set.
“Melissa was one of us,” the creator continued. “If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set]—even if for just a cameo—we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.”
The last season of Gilmore Girls was considered an unauthentic send-off for the show, as Sherman-Palladino was not involved on Season 7.

But the Daily Mail says that Sherman-Palladino seemed intimidated now that Melissa McCarthy has made it so big.
“It was a character we knew we could not count on in terms of story, because [Melissa] just simply wouldn’t have that sort of time to carve out for us,” she reasoned.
But fans believe that McCarthy should have been given the opportunity.
“However, Amy did say that ‘if her people called me up and said she’s free on these particular days… we would put her right in,’ so perhaps Melissa’s tweet will open up the opportunity of a return to Stars Hollow for Sookie after all.”
So maybe all isn’t lost? For now, McCarthy is working with Mike & Molly coming to an end, and the debut of the new, all-female Ghostbusters.

But the New York Daily News says that fans want some answers about why McCarthy wasn’t given the same courtesy as the rest of the cast of Gilmore Girls. Fans took to Twitter to share their disappointment.
“@melissamccarthy YOU BETTER BE ON THE GILMORE GIRLS REVIVAL OR I WILL DIE”
“@MelissaMcCarthy, if you don’t come back for Gilmore Girls I swear to Beyoncé I’m going to punch something very cute and furry,” one fan wrote.
“@MelissaMcCarthy Gilmore Girls was your first true fan base. 4 episodes that’s all we asked for, couldn’t you at least us that much Sookie?” one user tweeted after the news.
Many fans believe Gilmore Girls without Sookie St. James is not the Gilmore Girls they loved.
“If you’re rebooting #Gilmore Girls without Melissa McCarthy, you’re not rebooting #Gilmore Girls. FACT,” one fan tweeted.
Though she certainly is a busy lady, fans are hoping she can squeeze in some time to return to Stars Hollow.
Do you hope that Melissa McCarthy will return to Gilmore Girls?
