Justin Bieber, Skrillex, And Diplo To Perform Together At The Grammys
Justin Bieber is set to perform with Jack Ü’s Diplo and Skrillex at the upcoming 2016 Grammy Awards.
On Thursday, the Recording Academy announced Bieber will hit the stage with the EDM kings at the ceremony to showcase their worldwide hit, “Where Are Ü Now”. It is possible the trio will play other material.
Bieber, Skrillex, and Diplo are, of course, nominated for Best Dance Recording for “Where Are Ü Now.” The cut is featured on Bieber’s highly-acclaimed Purpose album, but was first heard when Jack Ü stealth-dropped their debut LP on February 27, 2015.
The duo’s album is also a contender in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category.
The latest edition of the Grammys boasts a fantastic lineup of live acts. In addition to the Biebs and Jack Ü, the show will include performances from The Weeknd, British songstress Adele, Broadway’s Hamilton cast, a BB King tribute featuring Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt and Gary Clark, Jr., an ensemble between Pitbull, Robin Thicke, and Travis Barker, the television debut of Johnny Depp’s The Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, Ellie Goulding, Kendrick Lamar, Lionel Richie, Little Big Town, and the one and only Lady Gaga’s much-anticipated David Bowie tribute.
Bieber and Pitbull were announced as performers at the Grammys last month, when the organization’s official Twitter revealed the news. The reveals were also posted at The Grammys’ Instagram account.

Hours afterwards, this message, “See everyone at @TheGRAMMYs. Honored,” appeared on Bieber’s Twitter page.

Lamar leads the nominees at this year’s 58th annual ceremony with 11 nods, while Taylor Swift and The Weeknd took second second place with seven nominations each.
All of the above, and the nominees, are what we do know. But, how about what we don’t know? Here are four crucial questions to consider before the Biebs hits the Staples Center stage at the 2016 Grammys.
1: Will this be Justin’s year to win a Grammy?
After the travesties of being passed over in 2011 for Best Pop Vocal Album (My world 2.0) and Best New Artist, and the more understandable omission in 2013 for Believe, will this year’s Grammys be Bieber’s “Leonardo DiCaprio” expected-getting-an-Oscar moment?
Plenty of critics seem to think the game changing, gorgeous EDM anthem “Where Are Ü Now?” is by far the strongest contender in the Best Dance Recording field, which includes Above & Beyond with Zoë Johnston, The Chemical Brothers, Flying Lotus featuring Kendrick Lamar, and Galantis.
Bieber, Skrillex, and Diplo’s out-of-the-box musical trinity captured the public’s imagination, as it went on to become the song of 2015, generating nearly 450 million streams on Spotify, garnering an American Music Award, and ushered in the new music sound and acceptance of Bieber ahead of him unleashing the juggernaut that is Purpose.
If there is a time for Bieber to finally win a Grammy, this is that year.
2: What will Bieber wear to the Grammys?
It’s the biggest music industry event of the year. It is likely the Biebs will rise to the occasion and won’t rock up in a hoodie, baseball hat, and sweats. The singer didn’t top numerous most stylish celebrity end-of-year lists in December for nothing.
A sartorial clue previously came from a tweet from Bieber’s longtime stylist, Karla Welch, the same night the singer was announced as a performer. Amid fevered online musing among Justin Bieber fans she teased, “I’m feeling suits.”

Whether the Biebs rocks a suit on the red carpet and the stage remains to be seen. But, one thing is certain, Kidrauhl in a suit never gets old.

3: Will Bieber be rocking purple or lilac hair at the ceremony?
Last month, the heartthrob surprised everyone when he had his already dyed platinum locks rinsed through with a lavender color. Based on an Instagram shared Wednesday night by the “Sorry” singer’s longtime hairstylist, Florido, it looks like the Biebs had a touch-up yesterday.
The stylist didn’t mention Bieber by name, but his caption invites that assumption. “In The Werks With You Know Who… Mixed #UltraViolet and #PurpleHaze with #Pastelizer Stay Tuned… @manicpanicnyc,” he wrote alongside the pic below.

From a look at the comments at the post and Florido’s Twitter, let’s just say fans’ reaction is decidedly mixed.

Too much negativity on my mentions today.

4: Who will the Biebs take to the Grammys?
In years past, Justin’s mother, Pattie Mallette, accompanied her son to awards shows. Previously, thought to be dating longtime pal, Hailey Baldwin, it’s anyone’s guess now who Bieber will take to the ball.
Roll on February 15.
