Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton Create Album As Christina Aguilera Mocks Affair On ‘The Voice’: Blake Thrills Fans
When Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton team up, you just have to expected beautiful music from the duo who turned their platonic friendship into a steamy romance on The Voice last season. So, as their hook-up continues to heat up, Gwen and Blake have hatched plans to create their own album, according to a source cited by Hollywood Life.
While he’s a whole lot country and she’s a little bit rock’n’roll, Stefani and Shelton feel that combining their musical talents will produce magic.
“The album will be a whole new outlook on music, mixing Blake’s country voice and Gwen’s pop expertise — it’ll be an amazing crossover record,” revealed the source. “Blake is just excited to be working with Gwen again. He can’t wait to show her the country ropes! He’s her No. 1 supporter.”
As for why Stefani wants to take her pop star success and move into country, the source claims that Gwen has several motives. Stefani hopes it will boost her sales and cause fans, as well as Shelton’s family and pals, to like her, according to that same insider.“[Gwen] says country music will be great to add to her repertoire because it’ll increase her likability and sales. Plus, Gwen thinks it’ll make Blake’s friends and family like her more.”
But it’s not just in the album that Shelton and Stefani will be making music together, because a new season of The Voice is coming up, with a totally new opportunity to see a PDA parade from Gwen and Blake for viewers.
Some fans fretted when word got out that Christina Aguilera would be replacing Gwen as coach on the popular singing competition, while Blake himself proposed that the show hire a fifth coach (and of course give the spot to Stefani). But The Voice producers solved that problem by having Stefani take on the role of mentor to Team Blake Shelton.
In addition to Gwen, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Tori Kelly and Patti LaBelle will appear in the role of mentors when The Voice returns for Season 10, reported Us Weekly.
Tori is the mentor for Team Adam Levine. With Stefani guiding Shelton in the way that only she can do, the rapper known for “I’ll Be Missing You” will seek to help Team Pharrell Williams challenge them all. And when Christina Aguilera slips into that red couch chair frequented by Gwen (and at times Blake along with her) last season, she will have the legendary LaBelle, 71, to advise her.
In December, Adam emerged victorious when his singer, Jordan Smith, won the Season 9 competition, trumping Stefani and her boyfriend as well as Pharrell. But can Levine, Aguilera, or Williams overpower the combination of Stefani and Shelton when The Voice debuts for Season 10 on February 29?
While that remains to be seen, a fan revealed that Christina “roasted” Shelton about dating Stefani, reported Morning Ledger.Referring to Aguilera as “Xtina,” the fan shared that watching Christina tease the country crooner about Stefani provided some unexpected entertainment.
“xtina roasted blake about dating gwen it was hilarious,” tweeted the fan.
Shelton was blushing at the jokes centering on his hook-up with Stefani, but Christina apparently couldn’t help herself from mocking Blake when he chose a young singer who resembled Gwen.
“[Aguilera] said she knows why blake picked a certain girl for his team… She sounds like Gwen!” dished the fan.For those who couldn’t attend the taping of The Voice and were eager to see Shelton in person, the country crooner recently provided an unexpected opportunity with an impromptu concert, reported ET. And although it didn’t feature Stefani as well, country music fans were more than content to rush to see their country superstar.
The performance seemed to result from a suggestion by a fan that Blake do an “impromptu concert.”
“Hmmm…. That’d be fun. But probably couldn’t find a place to do it on this short of notice,” Shelton responded.
However, he then made it happen with a only-Blake-could-do-this bombshell of a free concert for his loyal fans. Shelton unveiled plans for that impromptu concert at Iron City in Birmingham.
Freaked-out fans rushed to nab a wristband, with the 1,300 available wristbands vanished in hours to the lucky ones who would be seeing Blake in person at Iron City, a Birmingham, Alabama, event center and music venue. It also offers a full service restaurant, The Grill at Iron City, around the corner for those who wanted to turn the unexpected opportunity to watch Shelton perform into a full date night.
“I watched people running down the street to get in line,” one observer revealed to ET.
Not surprisingly, it was a huge success, with Iron City expressing thanks to Shelton and those who attended.
Thank you @blakeshelton & Birmingham for making yesterday incredible! Photos up on Facebook https://t.co/bFbCxxTe0e pic.twitter.com/mjvIUVQt2w
