WWE Rumors: Major Heat On The Rock For Promo On ‘RAW’ — Anyone Else Would Have Been Fired
This past week on Monday Night RAW, The Rock returned to WWE and had a huge production leading from his arrival backstage to a promo in the ring. After interacting with The New Day and The Usos, some even believe he may be part of a tag match at WrestleMania 32, but that isn’t confirmed. What is known is that The Rock went off script and is getting a lot of heat for it, and if it had been anyone else? Vince McMahon would have fired them.
As recapped by WWE.com, The New Day did confront The Rock, and he was assisted by his cousins, Jey and Jimmy Uso. There was much more to this entire segment, though, and it ended up running around 20 minutes long.
You know this segment on the format sheet was just, “Rock will just do whatever the hell he wants for as long as he wants.”

Some have said it was one of the most entertaining segments on Monday Night RAW in quite some time. The Rock went out to the ring and hyped up how he will appear at WrestleMania 32 and his return to WWE in Miami on that night, but there was much more.
During the in-ring promo, The Rock took notice to four fans seated in the front row near the timekeeper’s booth. The Rock noticed them, paused for a second, and then simply stated, “This is where we go off script,” and hopped out of the ring to walk over to them.
The four fans were each dressed as different superstars — Hulk Hogan, The Rock, The Undertaker, and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. For a few minutes, The Rock joked around with the fans and even let them introduce themselves to the crowd before he got back in the ring.Well, he really shouldn’t have done that.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, these four fans had already unintentionally caused a bit of trouble earlier in the night. During the match between Kane and Bray Wyatt, fans were obviously distracted by the four dressed as superstars and it was taking away from the action.
WWE sent out security officials to tell the fans to calm down and even took the costumed fans out of the arena. Security advised them not to be disruptive and let them back in, so they agreed and went back to their seats.
Then, The Rock came out for his big return and drew even more attention to them. This essentially caused WWE backstage officials to begin “freaking out,” considering what had already happened with those fans earlier in the night. This has led many to believe The Rock has some major heat on him from Vince McMahon. The Rock has even commented on the situation of it and got a good laugh.
Ha well at @WWE events, going “off script” is what I live for. So much fun for the fans. Nightmare for Vince.???? https://t.co/NeBxm8yMHI

While The Rock did end up laughing about this whole situation on Twitter, some are saying it was a much bigger deal than WWE or the superstar are letting on.
If you even just look through the photos from The Rock’s return segment on Monday Night RAW, you’ll see all kinds of shots from his arrival to the big finish. What WWE.com didn’t include in those photos is a single shot of The Rock interacting with the fans at ringside.
As continued in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that The Rock can virtually do anything he wants, within reason. Now, if anyone else had gone “off script” like that, unless they were The Rock or John Cena, then they would have been fired by Vince McMahon.
The Undertaker wouldn’t be fired, either, but he also probably wouldn’t go off script due to his character.
The Rock’s return was huge for WWE, and it even upped the ratings for Monday Night RAW as the company heads toward WrestleMania 32. Going “off script” may have honestly been a big deal, but it being The Rock, it’s going to be overlooked even though some heat may have originally come about.
