‘Orange Is The New Black’ Star Taryn Manning Takes Her Role Too Far, Assaults Make-Up Artist

Orange is the New Black actress Taryn Manning is proving just how different she is from her character, as she allegedly escalated an ongoing dispute with her make-up artist, Holly Hartman. The two women have a long history of getting into conflicts, and as Hartman states in court documents, Manning has gone out of her way to antagonize the situation. Holly claims that Taryn has been so aggressive toward her that she has felt compelled to file an application for a restraining order against the actress.

Holly Hartman Says She Has Been Bullied By Orange Is The New Black Star Taryn Manning

The most recent altercation between Hartman and Manning occurred in November at the OITNB star’s New York apartment. There are no details available on just what incited the brawl, but, once it was started, Taryn was the aggressor, allegedly headbutting Holly before securing the make-up artist’s head in a headlock. Ms. Hartman’s court documents also state that Ms. Manning whipped her with a wet towel and sprayed her face with Windex.

“Pick a knife. I’m wearing a white shirt there will be a lot of blood. You will be famous for killing Taryn Manning,” dared the Orange is the New Black actress, according to Holly’s statement.

Hartman’s request for a restraining order was denied by the Los Angeles court. The judge of record determined that the request for a restraining order, as well as the initial complaint, should have been filed at the court where the assault took place, meaning that the issue falls within New York jurisdiction.

Holly Hartman And Taryn Manning Share A Troubled Past

Ms. Hartman alleges in her statement that this wasn’t the first time she’s been victimized by the Orange is the New Black actress, which may explain why she filed her complaint in Los Angeles instead of New York. The complaint states that, in the past, Manning has choked, punched, scratched, and kicked Hartman. Holly also claims to have had her hair pulled by the actress on multiple occasions.

In 2012, Taryn was arrested and charged for brutalizing Hartman, but since Holly refused to press charges, Ms. Manning was only placed on probation and ordered to participate in community service.

Taryn Manning tells an entirely different story, stating that she hasn’t had any contact with Holly Hartman in months and that she has asked her lawyers to investigate the make-up artist for stalking her. The actress’ legal team has issued a statement in response to Hartman’s accusations.

“These investigations have long predated these entirely fabricated allegations. Ms. Hartman is under investigation for stalking Ms. Manning and for theft and other crimes. It is clear that Ms. Hartman’s camp has leaked these allegations which were not available publically to elevate her own position and obscure her own wrong doing,” said Taryn Manning’s legal team in the statement.

Ms. Manning’s legal team has also revealed that Taryn plans to retaliate with a countersuit against Hartman. It may be that Manning is merely waiting for her lawyers to assemble the necessary evidence and documents, before responding with charges.

No matter which story is true, there definitely seems to be a great deal of hostility between Taryn Manning and Holly Hartman. One has to wonder just what the source of their mutual resentment is, as it seems unlikely that they could just hate each other with so much passion, while lacking a cause. Whatever history these two women share, it seems time for them to either settle it quietly or go their separate ways, before it escalates far beyond reparation.
