WWE Rumors: Former Member Of The Shield Turning Heel At ‘Fastlane’
WWE has set up the main event at Fastlane with essentially three babyfaces fighting over the main event slot at WrestleMania 32. Brock Lesnar will take on Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose for the right to face Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Title, but who will win it? It seems now that there may be some big-time interference and a major heel turn of a former member of The Shield in order to get things going the way that WWE wants them to go.
Reigns and Ambrose have been buddies pretty much since The Shield broke up and have teamed up on numerous occasions over the course of the past eight months. They’ve been a tag team, stood in one another’s corners, supported each other, and watched one another’s backs.
It seems now that it may be time for WWE to pull the trigger and turn one of the former members of The Shield heel.
According to Cageside Seats, Dean Ambrose may turn heel during the main event triple threat match and turn his back on Reigns. It’s not that Ambrose really needs a major push, seeing as he is the Intercontinental Champion, but it would be more for the benefit of Reigns.
The fans are going to cheer for Ambrose and Lesnar more than Reigns at Fastlane, and WWE needs to get that turned around. Just like at the Royal Rumble, plans were changed mid-match so that the fans wouldn’t turn on the match if Reigns was one of the last two with Triple H.
Turning Ambrose heel would get the fans against him and leave them one less superstar to cheer for over Reigns. Still, that leaves Brock Lesnar, and fans are going to cheer for him no matter what, but WWE may have a plan for that too.
Brock Lesnar’s inclusion in the main event at Fastlane is because the company is trying to give that pay-per-view a much bigger feel. They want it to seem more important than just a filler between two major events, and it has already worked.
Lesnar seems to be heading for a WrestleMania 32 match with a member of The Wyatt Family, and that is expected to be Bray Wyatt. There is also another big rumor going around that he could face off with Braun Strowman, but confirmation hasn’t come yet.
Expect the Wyatts to interfere in the triple threat match at Fastlane and to take out Lesnar or do something the contributes to him losing. This will further that feud and also give fans one less superstar to cheer for over Reigns.
Low and behold, Reigns can win the match and go on to face Triple H for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 32. As reported by Wrestling Inc., that main event has been in place and set for quite some time.
The main event at WrestleMania 32 is going to be what WWE tried to have at WrestleMania 31 in a passing of the torch or “coronation” for Roman Reigns atop the ladder. Last year, it didn’t quite work out due to the backlash from the fans, but this year may really not be much different.
This could end up being a main event Mania match that gets the same awful reaction that The Miz and John Cena had at WrestleMania XXVII. That match ended up being a mess and received a lot of negative criticism. Reigns vs. Triple H could get the same kind of treatment.
The “Road to WrestleMania” has already begun, but there is still a long way to go until the event arrives in early April. Rumors are strongly swirling that out of the two former members of The Shield, Dean Ambrose will likely be turning heel to help elevate Roman Reigns as the top babyface.
