‘Downton Abbey’ Naughty Comments Made To Princess Kate By Joanne Froggatt
The palace got wind of some sexy talk on Conan O’Brien about the visit of Princess Kate to the set of Downton Abbey. In the grand scheme of things, it was pretty tame, but it made news that the segment was cut out in the U.K. Joanne Froggatt, better known as Anna Bates the lady’s maid and Lady Mary’s partner in crime, explained how she put her foot in her mouth during Princess Kate’s pop in on the final season of Downton Abbey.
According to the Inquisitr, Hugh Bonneville also spilled the beans on the Princess Kate visit to the set of Downton Abbey, and how they were told “no tongues.” It’s not clear what that meant, but rather than no French kissing the princess, it likely meant nobody on set was to have loose lips about the princess visit.

Celebrity Dirty Laundry reports that Queen Elizabeth put her foot down on Joanne Froggatt’s visit to Conan O’Brien, and the saucy talk about Princess Kate’s Downton Abbey visit. It seems that Froggatt made a comment to the Princess that she quickly realized was a double entendre, and though she tried to explain herself, it only got worse the more she talked. Princess Kate was watching Froggatt and Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) shoot in Lady Mary’s bedroom, and commented that it felt so strange being in Lady Mary’s private quarters. Attempting to make small talk, Froggatt filled in the silence.
“Yes, not very many people get to come in Lady Mary’s bedroom.”
Froggatt realized the unintended play on words, and was embarrassed, but was further puzzled when the palace put the kibosh on that part of Conan.

E! Online recalled Froggatt telling Conan how she wished she could have sucked her words back in.
“You’re just getting more and more nervous,” Froggatt said on Conan about the constant updates on Middleton’s visit. She and Michelle Dockery were the only ones filming that day. “We’re doing this scene and she’s very beautiful, lovely. She has this amazing aura when she walks in the room…before we actually said hello we had to act right in front of her.”
It’s hard to imagine who was more embarrassed, the princess or Froggatt.
“I said, ‘Yeah, not many people get to come in Lady Mary’s bedroom,'” she said. “And then I was like, ‘Oh my god. What have I just said?’ I’ve just said something that could be taken really the wrong way…and I thought, ‘Do I say? Do I draw attention to it?'”
Froggatt said the princess obviously understood what she said, versus what she meant, and graciously let it go.

Hello! Magazine says that Froggatt said the comment in Lady Mary’s bedroom on Downton Abbey was totally blush-worthy. Froggatt said just the idea of Princess Kate visiting the set of Downton Abbey made everyone nervous, and having her watch them shoot the scene just upped the ante.
“You’re just getting more and more nervous,” Joanne said about the experience that happened when she and co-star Michelle Dockery were filming. “We’re doing this scene and she’s very beautiful, lovely. She has this amazing aura when she walks in the room, before we actually said ‘hello’ we had to act right in front of her.”
Finding out that Downton Abbey was the princess’s favorite show meant the world to the cast, and she hoped her remark wouldn’t taint the day.

Do you think the palace was right in censoring part of the Conan interview on U.K. television?
